Re: Foreign Marriage Recognition in Cambodia
@PSD Kiwi, on page 1 of this post, Lost Jeremy links to another, older post in which you said that "No longer possible to have your foreign marriage recognised by the MoFAIC unless you followed the process of going through the Embassy and receiving the necessary documentation unfortunately.
The actual process of having your marriage abroad recognised here starts by completing paperwork at the Cambodian Embassy in your home country PRIOR to getting married, however there is not much information on the process available and most reports are that the Cambodian Embassy staff are clueless, which is no surprise."
It's possible that I will get married in the future. You have also described a number of benefits of having one's marriage recognized in Cambodia. Can you describe this process that you have to do at the Cambodian Embassy before you get married abroad? Or point in the right direction? As I understand what you said, it is actually possible to get your overseas marriage recognized in Cambodia, but only if you go through this process at the relevant Cambodian Embassy before your marriage overseas.

Re: Foreign Marriage Recognition in Cambodia
It would be much easier if you are the female party in the marriage.
If you are foreigner male who wishes to marry khmer lady, it is advisable to register your marriage here first before getting any other marriage elsewhere.
Since it would get very complicated if you are deemed to be a married man elsewhere.
Just a question here, any particular reason as to why you would require a Cambodia Marriage Certificate? Is it a request from your khmer wife/husband?
Usually locals would want to protect their properties here hence, would prefer Cambodia Marriage certificate.

Re: Foreign Marriage Recognition in Cambodia
I guess this is directed at me. For various reasons, we do not wish to get married in Cambodia first, i.e. we would prefer to get married overseas.ssian wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:03 pm It would be much easier if you are the female party in the marriage.

Re your second question, PSD Kiwi provided a number of reasons why it is advantageous to have your marriage recognized in Cambodia. (It's not a request from my partner).
