Random Cleaver Attack on Phnom Penh Street

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On June 6, 2020, at 5:30 pm, a 33 years old man, Bong Siyon, was arrested for using a cleaver to attack two people in front of house no. 496, at Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh. The victims were identified as Poun Toy, 51-year-old man, a member of the Royal Gendarmerie, and Chea Sreymom, a 36-year-old woman street seller.

The victims said before the incident, the two were chatting to each other, when suddenly without warning, the suspect attacked them for no reason. The man, who was very drunk, started yelling and striking the victims with a meat cleaver.
Poun Toy, the gendarme, called the police to come and arrest the suspect. The victims were sent to the hospital with a number of wounds.
