Cambodians, Chinese in court on charges of producing ‘hundreds of kilograms of drugs’
3 Chinese and Cambodian men were in court yesterday charged with running a major drugs producing and smuggling ring in Cambodia
The seven defendants convicted include:
Qiang Liang, Male, Chinese, 56 years old.
Te Meng Huot, Male, 30 years old, Cambodian, Chief of Warehouse, Drug Production Machine.
Fung Halong, male, 29 years old, Cambodian, a truck driver.
The defendants below are currently on the run from the authorities and were tried in absentia:
Chenda, alias Mab, Chinese, Taiwanese
Heng Meng Ho, a Chinese national
Hour Mengker, Male, Chinese
Lao Panh, a Chinese national, the alleged ringleader
During the hearing, which was presided over by Mr. Theam Chanpiseth, President of the Trial Chamber, and Mr. Heng Pheng, a representative of the Prosecutor’s Office, Fung Halong admitted that on February 19, 2020, he had been ordered by his boss, Lao Panh to drive a one-and-a-half-ton truck carrying some contraband and hand it over to Qiang Liang,in front of Pochentong Airport.
Defendant Te Meng Huot, who was the head of a warehouse in Kambol district, was summoned for questioning and detained by the court.
Defendant Qiang Liang confessed that he was told by his boss to come and pick up his luggage at the warehouse, but he was arrested at the time of the appointment.
In the drug case, the prosecutor asked the Trial Chamber to punish the accused severely according to the law.
Finally, the court postponed the verdict indefinitely.
