^^ Chinese Editor of Angkor Today, who misrepresented that "Cambodia sells Kovid 19 vaccine" has been deported on 25 February 2021.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the evening of February 25, 2021, a Chinese man named Shen Kaidong, the director of Angkor Today, was deported from Cambodia on flight 9C8534 to Shanghai, China.

Shen Kaidong was expelled from Cambodia by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng after a recent Chinese-language misrepresentation on Angkor Today 's Wechat website saying that, "Cambodia sells Chinese vaccines for $ 120."

In addition to being deported from Cambodia, the Chinese national news editor was also banned from re-entering the country by the Ministry of Interior. Not only that, the license of his news outlet Angkor Today has been revoked by the Ministry of Information of Cambodia.

General Khieu Sopheak, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, deported the Chinese national from Cambodia at the request of the National Police. Shen Kaidong came to Cambodia in 2009 and in 2015 started working as the Editor-in-Chief of Angkor Today in Siem Reap, located in Krous Village, Siem Reap Province, with Ung Kongkea as its editor.

The Chinese national admitted to professional misconduct for posting an anonymous message received on social media saying that Calmette Hospital was selling Chinese vaccines for $120. This has been denied as false and misleading information by the health authorities of Cambodia. Authorities are also concerned that this false news from Angkor Today was also reposted on other social media news outlets (falsely).

According to Ms. O Vandin, Secretary of State and Leader of the Ministry of Health, the Covid 19 vaccine, which is a Chinese donation to Cambodia, has so far been given to priority groups announced by the Ministry of Health, but not to the general population, and it is not for sale.

Man's Death Not Due to Covid-19
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: This afternoon, on March 14, 2021, the Ministry of Health of Cambodia, would like to inform all the public that according to a report from Prey Veng Province, a 69 year old Khmer man has died of a heart attack while being treated for Covid-19.
Image
This 69-year-old man went to hospital in Prey Veng Province on March 13, 2021 at 5:30 pm, due to a positive Covid-19 test result from the Cambodia Institute on 11th March 2021.

Careful what you post (and how you comment.) An unfortunate mix-up with a photo has lost an Information Ministry advisor his job, after he posted a photo of a golf bag.

Information Ministry advisor stripped of position, news outlet license

An Information Ministry advisor was fired from his position, and a journalist association and Facebook news page he runs had their licenses revoked after he posted a picture of a packaged golf kit which he mistook for the first person to die from COVID-19.

The Information Ministry revoked licenses for San Prum News and the Cambodia Facebook Journalist Association – both run by ministry advisor Prum San – on March 12 for posting an inaccurate photograph with an article. Acting head of state Say Chhum also issued a Royal Decree evoking his advisor position from the Information Ministry on March 13.

Prum San posted an article about Cambodia’s first on March 11 about the death of Cambodia’s first COVID-19 patient in Phnom Penh. He posted the information to his personal Facebook page but attached a photo of a golf kit wrapped in white packaging, very loosely resembling a human form.

Speaking to CamboJA, San said he accidentally posted the photo and after he realized it was a packaged golf kit he took it down within ten minutes but Facebook users had already taken screenshots and posted it on the social media platform.

San said his wife, Sy Sopheak, ran San Prum News and he was only an advisor to the social media news outlet. He said the closure of San Prum News would affect around 60 staffers and apologized for his mistake.

“I regret this mistake because it was an unintentional mistake,” San said.

He was a supporter of the government and had helped translate Thai-language information for the Interior and Defense Ministries, especially during the Preah Vihear conflict with Thailand.

“Please, all leaders allow this outlet to operate again and I vow that I will correct all my mistakes,” he said.

CamboJA could not reach San Prum News’s publisher, Sy Sopheak.

Cambodia recorded its first COVID-19 death last week after a 50-year-old man died at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital after developing complications.

Meas Sophorn, an Information Ministry spokesperson, said San Prum had fabricated the truth by posting an incorrect photograph and could have caused chaos and affected national security. He said Prum San had been warned in the past.

“He distorted information about the death of the COVID-19 patient,” Sophorn said. “It affects the reputation and efforts of the authorities, especially the Health Ministry.”

Seems a bit harsh. It's a bit funny at best and unprofessional at worst, but everyone makes mistakes. They seem really touchy about anything related to the Wuflu.

Fake news is any news that disagrees with government policy. In fact the main source of fake news is government propaganda which is constantly and deliberately spreading fear and panic amongst the population.
