Specific Area of PP to buy bricks?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Specific Area of PP to buy bricks?

Post by talltuktuk »

I’m looking for red building bricks. I know they sell them all over the city but is there a specific area where they sell a lot of them? In SR most of the building supply shops were out on Ring Road - is there an area like this in PP? I’m looking for a brick with Khmer Letters stamped on the side by the manufacturer, it’s a gift for someone back home. I’ve stopped at several brick places in my area but haven’t found them.

This link may or may not help, but perhaps better to ask a local than the expat community.

All the bricks I bought here were generally mishapen things that are maybe squeezed through a die and chopped, if they have a stamp on them it isn't going to look great.

If you had inspected them closely you probably would have seen some kids fingerprints firmly embedded in each one.

Yeah most of them look like shit. But I did see a few in SR that appeared to be better quality than most and had some really cool Khmer text stamped into the side of each one. Didn’t buy them because I assumed I could get them in PP.
