Misadventures in Koh Kong

As you may or may not have seen, a thread has appeared on CEO regarding a piece of gossip that has been circulating Phnom Penh for 3 weeks, with few people daring or wanting to share it outside their small groups. Now that an anonymous poster has signed up to CEO with the sole intention of bringing it into the public domain, perhaps it's time to share the story here, with the hope that those involved can share their version of events and knock the gossip on its head.
Here is the story as we have heard it, both from a few sources in person and via some information sent through PM. Caveat Emptor. This is now 3rd and probably 4th hand information so expect some changes as more details emerge when and if all parties have their say on events. I hope they do.
There are a couple of related events which happened on Koh Kong which together seem to have made for a very exciting few days at a well known resort in Koh Kong owned by a barang Oknha.
The three key protagonists are:
1) the GM of the resort who also happens to be the well liked and highly regarded former owner of The Green Vespa in Phnom Penh,
2) a gentleman employed at the resort and who, it seems, is famous for having been previously deported from Thailand for people trafficking and who is now Cambodia. He has only a bit part in the story, and
3) another unidentified barang employee of the resort.
The misadventures began when the three key players went on an almighty bender following the funeral of the former people trafficker's late wife. The fact that it happened in the aftermath of a loved one's funeral makes it all a bit tragic.
The first weird event occurred when the unidentified barang employee somehow managed to crash the Oknha's car into a lake/river very close to HE's local residence while very very drunk. The car was towed out by a group of helpful locals but when they asked for money the staff member refused, so the rescuers pushed the car back into its watery parking spot. Which is understandable, I suppose.
After returning to the hotel to scream blue murder at anyone who would listen, the intoxicated employee returned to the scene of the accident where he was reportedly arrested by HE's personal body guards who had seen him acting suspiciously from the grounds of HE's residence. Included in 'acting suspiciously' is drinking half a litre of gasoline. Why he was drinking gasoline is not clear. Perhaps he thought it would give him the power needed to remove the oknha's car from the lake/river. Perhaps it was the result of some medication he was taking. Why HE's guards thought this was suspicious behaviour is perhaps a clearer. I suspect they thought he was going to threaten HE's safety by impersonating a dragon.
Meanwhile back at the resort and presumably on the same night (and as a result of the same bender) the new GM of the oknha's resort somehow managed to get himself arrested and imprisoned as a result of complaints made by a 17 year old member of the resort's staff who he had enticed to his room, presumably to discuss the following day's lunch menu.
It's unclear what happened, except we understand he was initially charged with aggravated rape but that this was eventually reduced to attempted rape. I like to think this was a result of some misunderstanding and not as serious as it looks on paper, but who knows? Many of us know him, and this seems totally out of character. Unfortunately he is not answering calls or replying to messages.
Anyway, it seems he was banged up in the local jail for a couple of days before the issue was resolved and he was released and told to get the fuck out of dodge quickly, and never return.
He returned to PP and was last seen arguing with his oknha boss in Larry's Bar a few days later, before storming out. We don't know what the argument was about, but I suspect it was related to the incidents described above. Perhaps someone enjoying Larry's sausage pizza that day is able to tell us more.
So there we have it. All in all a lousy few days for everyone concerned including a recently berieved husband, a really shitty end to a comfortable role in Koh Kong for the resort manager and a weird as fuck week for the petrol guzzling lunatic crashing cars into rivers within spitting distance of HE's country home.

I believe that I've consumed most of the recreational drugs here on God's green earth & usually mixed w/alcohol & each other, but I could never imagine what combination got the idiot who drove the car into the river ready and able to down a 1/2 Lt of GASOLINE ! I find that one harder to swallow than the petrol itself. Now huffing it ? - I find that at least somewhat conceivable. ps: Yeah, I had to look this up. My bullshit detector was clanging away. I read 4 medical journals and they say that the imbiber would be dead after 12oz unless maybe if he was 150kg - in which case he would also be dead because he would be brought to a KK hospital w/an actual problem.

So Scobienz doesn't want to fall behind the rumour mill? I won't say a word on it until things are cleared up. What a bunch of gossip queens. Some things are better left for the bar stool.

But they don't know how to make comfy bar stools in CMB. They're torture chambers by-en-large. It makes the type of hard core drinking that takes the skin off your elbows too tough on the buttocks and both your legs fall asleep. I've got a beer in my R and a Maker's in my L - gossip away !Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote:So Scobienz doesn't want to fall behind the rumour mill? I won't say a word on it until things are cleared up.
