Western Woman Seen Begging on Kampot Roadside

The few Khmers I've spoken to about this don't see it in quite the same light as us westerners do. Bizarrely, they sympathise with her and see it as a bit of a novelty for Khmer people to be able to help a western person.

Strange times indeed.

Does anyone know how long she's been here?

She has a strong resemblence to a east European girl I gave a lift to from K. Thom, heading north - and that was four years ago.

She looks like she might be mentally ill. More often than not I give money to beggars, here or at home, and if they want to spend my donation on drugs so be it. Not my business. Hard times can fall on anyone. There but for the grace of God go I. etc.
