Western Woman Seen Begging on Kampot Roadside
Re: Western Woman Seen Begging on Kampot Roadside
And obviously this is all hypothetical, as you have stated you are not anywhere near her present location.

It's just more tiresome virtue signalling.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

As a matter of interest, explorer, why do you think that it is more offensive for a poster to suggest that the person concerned has mental health problems, rather than to suggest that she is a drug addict ? There is absolutely no information that suggests that she is a drug addict, and if she has mental health issues then there is no shame in that.explorer wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 12:16 pm CEO could be used to have a positive influence in Cambodia. Someone in the area could go and meet her, then take her for a meal, and find out as much as they can about her. If it appears that she is a genuine person caught in a difficult situation, then they could let us all know. If they find out she has a drug problem, they can let us all know.
If she is a genuine person, a foreigner with a business in the area is likely to give her a job.
But instead, people who have seen 2 photos of her, and don't know anything about her, start saying offensive things about her.
Let's all do what we can to be a positive influence. Let's not say offensive things when we know nothing about a person.
If you think that it is not ok for others to speculate on the woman's situation with no further information, then it's not ok for you either.
Like many other lost expats, the woman needs help, but IMO you are not helping her cause by suggesting she is taking drugs. In fact, you may make her situation worse if the immigration officials get involved. (Authorities here react quickly to online gossip.) Whatever her situation, she is a real person and you should be careful what you say. 'Helpful' is not always helpful.

I suspect they used google translate and tried to copy it themselves.rogerrabbit wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 10:49 pm"I am traveling without money, please help support my trip."
The handwriting is really bad, like kid wrote it or something.

Been waiting to see a comment along the lines of ' why beg when she is sitting on a gold mine', but looks like the crass work is left up to me.

Of course she needs help. Help her whether she is taking drugs or not. A lot of theories based on a photograph of an unknown woman. I suppose it passes the time, but all we do know is that she cant have too much going on in life if she has to stand by the road in a third world country begging for money from the locals. I have read suggestions like, she needs help. Fair enough, but does she need help more urgently than the Khmers who have f*all and who are starving? Because she is a barang? Sooner or later she will make her way back to her own country, grow up and get over it. The locals dont have that choice.

And how to determine who merits help and who doesnt?lagrange wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 9:23 am A lot of theories based on a photograph of an unknown woman.
