10000 native english teachers required in Thailand

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

No need for english now that economies are killed, tourists will be a trickle for years to come.

Sure, there's no reason to learn the international language except to talk to tourists.... :?

I think the new international language is going to be Chinese ?
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Priorities, you know. Refreshing on agricultural skills is now a much better investment of time.

That's strange because it's a whole lot easier to find locals who speak English here than in Thailand or Vietnam. They must get the stats from some academic records or something.
I just regurgitated the stats. When I thought about what you said and my experience in the early 2010s, the Khmers spoke English rather naturally, both girls and guys. The Thais are woeful because they don't give a shit or don't think it's important, having swallowed the usual school and media propaganda. In VN, it's always the girls who speak the best English, girls being, in my view, always better new language learners.

true teachers do not enter the profession to accumulate wealth, most do it cause they love teaching
( discounting those teaching english in Cambodia ) :-)
true teachers are also people and they need to earn a living.they have families, medical problems, they need clothes and food

people complain when they have an emergency and crowdfund for medical cover but you want them not to get adjustments for inflation? where does the money for medicare come from?

which profession has had no adjustment in 20 years? do rents go up? yes. food, transport, everything.

my partner teaches chemistry, physics.yes she started bcoz she loves it but she hasn't had an increase in 5 years.

school fees have increased by 5% almost every year

altruism and reality

My brother started out back in the early '80 teaching sociology at a private university in md at $38,000
left last year, as the head of the sociology dept and full professor, at $62,000 after 38 years..
Salaries seldom raise in academia as fast as inflation.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
