Senator Suggests Denying Visas for Chinese Students to Study Science in U.S.

Senator Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) suggested on Sunday that the government should deny visas to Chinese students who want to study science in the U.S.

“It’s a scandal to me that we have trained so many of the Chinese Communist Party’s brightest minds to go back to China, to compete for our jobs, to take our business and ultimately to steal our property and design weapons and other devices that can be used against the American people,” Cotton said in an interview on Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures. “I think we need to take a very hard look at the visas that we give to Chinese nationals to come to the United States to study, especially at the postgraduate level in advanced scientific and technological fields.”

Cotton went on, “If Chinese students want to come here and study Shakespeare and the Federalist Papers, that’s what they need to learn from America. They don’t need to learn quantum computing and artificial intelligence from America.”

I agree. It should be the same for all western countries. Until there is a full investigation and reparations have been made. There should be no education for Chinese students.

Those students pay billions in fees, if you ban them many universities will face shortfalls.

Australia has about 40 degree granting universities, while the US has 4,000+

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS INJECT $32 BILLION A YEAR INTO AUSTRALIA’S ECONOMY – BOOSTING AUSSIE JOBS AND WAGES.

At least $20b of that is directly in tuition fees.

LOL indeed.

There were 370,000 Chinese students studying in US Universities in the figures for last year:

The amount Chinese students and their families contribute to the US economy continues to rise. This is estimated to have been $13 billion in 2017-2018, a figure that includes tuition fees and living expenses, according to NAFSA: Association of International Educators.

Thanks for that. I wouldn't have thought the figure was so high.

Well, time for some tough discussions.

China is in the midst of an aggressive campaign to increase their sovereign territory and surreptitiously undermine other major western powers.

So, which are you, Universities? Patriots or boot-licking Renminbi lovers.

Take a stand and be on the right side of history for once. :thumb:
