yes harder times, but how does living thru the Pol Pot times have anything to do with ur immune system?

The immune system is susceptible and weakened by stress caused from feelings of anxiety, worry and fear, generated non-stop by mass media.
The less we give a f*ck about this virus, the less likely we are going to notice it or have serious consequences if infected with it. People living in fear imprisoned in their homes for weeks and months in the west, without fresh air, without minimum physical exercising, coming out of long winter months with lack of sunshine are an ideal target for any virus as their immune system is so stressed.

I have heard the tuberculosis vaccination reasoning as well, especially because many Cambodians have relatively recently been vaccinated. This was done through the National Immunization Program (see here: http://www.cdc-crdb.gov.kh/cdc/document ... 6_2020.pdf)

In any case the very low numbers in Cambodia (and by the way Vietnam) are worth a thorough study. And the 80,000 cases in China seem very low now, too, compared to the numbers in Western countries.

They say the Spanish Flu killed mostly young people as their immune system overreacted. The real danger of this virus may be long term damage to the organs of younger people who recover.

Just heard Bill Gates discuss this and he says that one factor may be that while heat and humidity don't kill the virus outright, they may reduce its viability on surfaces for a long time. That means that in a cold country, every surface that someone infected touches is a live infection site for two days, while here in Cambodia it might be for less than an hour.

But there's a lot of guesswork still going on, by us and by the scientists.

I would guess that people living in rural areas, live far apart and have a lot of space between them, it's much more difficult to be transmitted. Doesn't apply to everyone but a large proportion.

Would anyone happen to have the statistics for Oct-Feb for all reported deaths in Cambodia to back up the suggestion it had spread through already? Appreciate the causes wont tell us anything, but surely we'd see a general spike in fatalities if it indeed had already visited.

The village i know they are just carrying on as if there is no problem,in and out of each others houses all the kids are playing together,visitors from other villages and no scocial distancing and no COVID.........

A factor could be the lack of old people homes in SEA. No warehousing of grannies leads to less granny to granny transmission.
