Kampot Expat Woman Attacked by Bag Snatchers at Midday (UPDATED)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. That's sad to hear.

I visited about 6 years ago and it was such a nice welcoming town at that time.

Presumably the economic situation has turned it foul?

I don't feel unsafe walking anywhere in Cambodia after dark.

That said; saltworker roundabout and it's arteries have been known for many years as robbery hotspots

The Sihanoukville refugees are responsible for the robberies?

It wouldn't bother me so much and I've done it recently. However there is a bad buzz in Kampot. It's always been sketchy, since they murdered all those backpackers there in 1994. The hills are full of maniacs bearing machetes. There are savages out there - you better believe it.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Meeting today went well. We now have an open line of communication with our local police force and they are on the case. If anyone has any problems with theives or attacks moving forward I will offer to help facilitate future meetings and the police would appreciate further information to help with their case

Cambodia News, Kampot province: On the night of December 9, 2020, General Mao Chanm Durith, the police commissioner of Kampot province led his forces to protect the people in Kampot township.
Following a number of reports of robberies and attacks in the city center recently, Kampot expats and locals will be relieved to know that the police are working on the problem.

Don't forget the Druggie Rapey Gang preying on innocent naive young backpackers.
Are they still doing their pagan hallucinogenic-fuelled orgies and sex-slave trading thing?
