All Things Aviation

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

I'm guessing this also counts as aviation - I wonder how this is going to work in 50 years time when everyone has a jetpack; I don't think it makes sense without the 'autonomous' advances as folks would just crash into each other all the time. Perhaps there could be some designated "free flying" zones, but for the most part surely we'd rely on tech to ensure safe passage & avoid collisions a la Tesla, etc.?

Amazing stuff all the same. If you land and don't say "I am Ironman", are you even alive?

Yes, formation flying is extremly challenging. You have to be 100% alert at all times, adjusting constantly for shifting winds conditions, and up/ downdrafts, as the formation changes headings. Keeping a constant distance between your own plane and your friends is really tricky. And of course; trying not to bump into the others is also a concern.

It takes a lot of practise to get good at it. And You really need to trust Your friends flying skills. I could never get into it when my friends where on my right. I needed to have them on the left side to be able to hang with them in the corners. But, anyway, I was not the best formation flyer out there. Way below average I would say.
