How is it for Khmers to get a tourist visa to NZ? Does the same unofficial discrimination apply as in other OECD jurisdictions?
On the face of it, NZ seems more egalitarian than other "western" countries.
My colleagues say this is pure window dressing.
However, none of us are Kiwis- so curious to hear a local opinion.

The same as any other Nationality applying for a Tourist Visa...as long as they meet all the requirements and satisfy NZ Immigration that they are not intending to illegally overstay in NZ then they will be issued a Visa.

With due respect PTSD, that ^^^ sounds very much like the official line.
In reality, are the hoops much more closely scrutinised, and in fact much harder to fulfil for citizens of a third world country - just like for Oz?

As far as i know getting a visa over here in nz are simple as long as you have a sufficient trade . Im not an expert on this topicsl though
Re: Kiwi looking to move to south east asia
Anyone from a developing Nation applying for a visa is going to have their application closely scrutinised as they are generally considered high risk for overstaying, but that's why the NZ Immigration dept have strict requirements, supporting documentation and interviews for applicants. There are tour companies which organise group tours to NZ from Cambodia, plenty of businessmen/women travel to NZ for work and/or tourism, the younger generation from wealthy families are exploring the world...as long as they meet all the requirements and satisfy NZ Immigration that they are not intending to illegally overstay in NZ then they will be issued a Visa.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 10:31 pm With due respect PTSD, that ^^^ sounds very much like the official line.

Immigration in NZ have tightened its loopholes and if foreigners overstay chances are that they will be tracked down especially in today's digital world, locating anyone is an easy task and especially in NZ which has a population of only about 5 million. All arrivals are closely scrutinised by Immigration officials, and if there is even the slightest hint that travellers intentions are to remain in NZ illegally they will be denied entry - check out the TV series Border Patrol NZ.
Besides, most Cambodians would have no interest in overstaying in NZ once they arrive and find out how expensive it is to live there and that Prahok is not available

Well, NZ is totally closed to any non-Kiwis right now, and immigration will be strict who they let in for the next year or so once the borders open - according to news reports.PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 7:35 pmAnyone from a developing Nation applying for a visa is going to have their application closely scrutinised as they are generally considered high risk for overstaying, but that's why the NZ Immigration dept have strict requirements, supporting documentation and interviews for applicants.
