NZ, Australia - into winter with Covid-19

Good idea, Ute :)
Starting a discussion of such fundamental issues of Au politics would probably exterminate Covid in Australia and New Zealand
- on this thread anyway.
lol

With the Fed election coming up early next year, maybe it's time to start a dedicated Scotty bashing thread
- ooops, i mean a thread for robust discussion on all things around Au politics.
??

“tinfoil hat wearing tossers, sitting in their parents’ basements in Florida”.

You go to Darwin if you want to learn to use the English language as well as Shakespeare

“Ninety-nine-point-nine-nine per cent of the bullshit that is flying around on the internet about the Territory is coming from flogs outside the Territory – mostly America, Canada and the UK, people who have nothing better to do than make up lies about us because their own lives are so small and so sad.

They made this bloke, Gunner, the Chief Minister (governor/premier) for his turn of phrase

“Hello to all the conspiracy theorists overseas watching this. Please get a life,”

^^ context
Aboriginal elders, health organisations and frontline workers in the Northern Territory’s Covid outbreak have lashed out at false information about public health measures on social media, with the NT chief minister blaming the misinformation on “tinfoil hat wearing tossers, sitting in their parents’ basements in Florida”.

Over the past few days false claims have been circulating online that Aboriginal people from Binjari and Rockhole were being forcibly removed from their homes and taken to enforced quarantine in Howard Springs, and people including children were being forcibly vaccinated.

None of these claims are true, according to the Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT), the local Aboriginal health services and community leaders.

LOL. thanks AM ^^ that's the funniest thing i've seen all day.

95. Will Australia get there?

National
88.1% fully vaccinated. 92.9% first dose

NSW, leading state
92.8% fully vaccinated. 94.7% first dose

The first dose number for NSW has sat on 94.something for three weeks - after reaching that number in double quick time.
(once they finally became available)
I reckon 94.999 fully vaxxed may be about Au's final result.

(ps, that is for 16 yrs+
12 -16 is well under way, and the prog for 5 -12 yr olds is just about to start)

Don't worry, we have our "Freedom" fighters here too. lol. Nuts.
This is the member of the Australian government who has been calling for the arrest of police enforcing Covid regulations.

He is currently fighting a (probably loosing) battle in the High Court to keep secret an AFP report into him spending more time in Angeles City than sitting in parliament every year - whether that is a security risk.
(there are published whispers that point to an attraction for young girls, despite his ex-hooker Philippine wife)

George Christensen uses US conspiracy show appearance to call for Australian embassy protests
https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal ... 59f63.html

"Far-right figures in the US have depicted Australia as a tyrannical state during COVID-19 and railed against restrictions put in place to curb transmission of the virus."
Fortunately the "Police State" "Shame Australia Shame" crew are only an annoyance here. The Covid program generally has had by far majority support across the board. Any big debate is only about the details.

^^
Member for Manila doesn't have to worry about his re-election as he stated he's not contesting the next one. Can go out with a bang pushing his anti-vax agenda and trying to stop any more dirt coming out about his AC activities haha. After the election, he'll be a nobody as far as the electorate is concerned.

Brisbane Airport slams ‘confusing’ COVID guidelines for international arrivals

Australia’s mixed international flight arrivals program is confusing travellers and hampering the nation’s recovery, according to the boss of its third-busiest airport.

Brisbane Airport Corporation chief executive Gert-Jan de Graaff says it’s “imperative” that cabinet reach an agreement on a consistent national approach to international arrivals.

“We urge the premiers, chief ministers and health officials to use national cabinet and the [Australian Health Protection Principal Committee] to agree to a nationally consistent protocol for arriving passengers,” he said on Tuesday.

“Passengers should experience the same process when they land in Australia, regardless of whether they arrive at Sydney Airport or Brisbane Airport.

“The more complexity and inconsistency, the slower Australia’s recovery will be in a highly
competitive, but also deeply complicated, new world of international travel.”

International passengers have been allowed into Sydney and Melbourne without quarantine since November 1, when New South Wales and Victoria reached the 80 per cent double-vaccination rate.

Normal international passenger flights will be allowed into Brisbane from Monday, tied to Queensland’s expected 80 per cent double-vaccination rate, however quarantine will still be required.

That quarantine requirement will remain until the state reaches the 90 per cent double-vaccination threshold, expected in mid-January.

Mr de Graaff said that stance was costing Queensland millions of dollars, as well as frustrating passengers.

While other countries are relaxing Covid rules, Australia tightens them.
To be considered 'fully vaxed', Australians will now need 3 jabs!

I'm sure the rest of the world is jealous of Australia having a government that tucks them into bed each night.
Scomo's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you
Scomo won't let anyone dirty get through
Scomo's gonna wait up till you get in
Scomo will always find out where you've been
Scomo's gonna keep we bogans healthy and clean

Scomo, did it need to be so high.
