French Bar Owner in Phnom Penh Stabs Himself to Death

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): In a tragic event, on the morning of April 11, 2020, at 9:30 am, a French man, 43 years old, the owner of NOT SO FAR bar, reportedly took his own life in a rented house in Sangkat Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh.

The police went to the scene to examine the body and determined that the victim committed suicide by using a knife to stab himself in the chest three times.
The body has been taken to keep at Khmer Soviet hospital, and the victim's belongings are kept at the French Embassy and will be returned to the victim's family.
May he RIP, and condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

That beats any Japanese ritual...
The poor guy.
If he did take his life, he probably was beyond fucked with his bar...

Hm, not sure how many people can do that, but maybe, just maybe it is possible. At least in Cambodia...
The Cambodian police are always so quick with their 'conclusions'. In normal countries police would say: sorry, no info yet, we're still investigating, securing possible traces etc. Not so in Cambodia. "Ah, victim alone? With a knife? OK, stabbed himself, suicide, case closed. Onto the next round of beers!"

Reminds me of the Finnish bar/guesthouse owner in Street 172 quite some years ago, where police wanted us all to believe he hung himself by tying to the window bars (with extremely heavy blooding as a result). Yeah, right.

Back to this case: I think his "Not So Fast" Bar opened less than a year ago.

Loads of people hang themselves off low bars. They usually get drunk or fucked up on pills first and then just lean into it. Some could be murders though, who the fuck knows? It's a pity we can't see what the dead person saw before they died. However this idea that the victim's last vision was burned into their retina resulted in many murder victims having their eyes removed or destroyed and smashed. I haven't heard of this for a while but then they have been pixelating crime photos for a while.

Really?! I don't recall that. Pretty crazy. To avoid getting them haunting you I guess?

It's a widely held belief that the police can see the final image on the victims eye's and that will identify the perpetrator. That's why murderers cut out the eyes.

10 or so years ago i saw a guy in a park high as a kite on lsd stab himself 6 or 7 times. He didnt even act like it hurt at all and he still had to be wrestled to the ground by 4 police officers. I have no idea if he lived or died, but it was a truly disturbing event to see. Kids and women where screaming.even on the ground the guy was still shouting and screaming to the cops to get off him.
