PROHIBITED: Travel from one district to another

Prime Minister HE today issued an order to ban all travel across the country from one district to another in a move to stem the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a letter dated today, Mr HE said that the government imposed the ban on travel nationwide, including getting in and out of Phnom Penh, and from travelling from one district to another and from one province to another.

“This order becomes effective from 24:00 April 9, 2020 to 24:00 April 16, 2020,” he said.

However, the order allowed all transportation of goods, ambulances, fire trucks, and vehicles belonging to armed forces and civil servants and dump trucks to operate.

It added it also allowed all transports of garment workers permitted by the Labour Ministry and people going to hospitals.

Doesn’t exactly allow a lot of time for anybody who had travelled on business or similar to get home!

It's mainly to prevent garment workers from heading home, thus the late notice.

Drove a Taxi from PP to the Northeastern boonies today, driver is from PP. Just called him if he doesn't want to be stuck here he should leave now. Even though he was aware it might be coming, he didn't know yet.

Anyway, I was stuck in Cambodia, now I'm stuck in my district. Will be interesting how people respond to this @ the market tomorrow.....

got to keep the money flowing in

some of the factories have very large employee catchment areas
workers are already spreading anything caught in the factory far and wide

they should be closed
but then the govt would have to pay the workers $70/month

.

monstra mihi bona!
