Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On April 2, 2020, at 10:30 am, Mr. Soeung Nul, director of the Anti-Drug Department collaborated with the Phnom Penh court prosecutor Mr. Soeun Mony, in the investigation into drug trafficking which led to the arrest of two men for trafficking over 16kgs of methamphetamine, on street 163, Sangkat Beung Keng Kong, Phnom Penh.

Police first arrested a 37-year-old man, Seoung Theara, with half a kilogram of the drug. Following the arrest and questioning of this suspect, on April 3 at 9:30 am, the police arrested another suspect, a 37-year-old man, Oueng Dychanna, in a raid at a rented house no. 33C, Sangkat Beung Salang, Khan Toul Kok, where the authorities confiscated over 16 kilograms of drugs disguised in Chinese tea bags.

Following a drug test, the confiscated substances were confirmed as methamphetamine (ICE); at a total weight of 16 kg and 478.77 grams.

The drugs were all packaged as a well known brand of Chinese tea, "Guanyinwang", often used by Chinese drug syndicates trafficking methamphetamine from their drug factories in South East Asia. These packages used to mainly transit Cambodia for other destinations, but it has now become common to find this "Chinese tea" methamphetamine also being bagged up and sold on the local drug market.
