No children were "made" so sing anything the independent is a propaganda rag, it headlines by saying "made to sing" then reverts to "encouraged to sing" :please:

That's my kind of crisis. What I wouldn't give for supermarket shelves like that in PP.

The UK is full of whinging, moaning cry-babies that don't know how lucky they are.

The shortage of class C and CE (the old Class 2 and class 1) has nothing to do with BREXIT and everything to do with the over zealous laws governing and penalizing drivers.
The test to get a Class C is now extremely difficult and you then need various CPC (Certificate of professional competence) before you can even be employed once you have your license. And then most of these CPC's need renewing periodically!

The electonic tacho data can be used as evidenence that you missed a break by 10 minutes and the fines are astronomical!
I could go on but I know a few guys back in the UK who have driven HGVs for years (some their entire lives) and most are thinking of taking early retirement or agency work so they don't have to deal with any one retard Transport Manager for too long.

I remember some years ago, the government did a scheme for the longer term unemployed too take their class 2 license. That at the time was because of the lack of delivery drivers, problem was I suspect that some didn't stick the jobs later because the multi drop become ridicules.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

CPC law came in 2003, maybe just a coincidence then 🤔

Things must have changed a bit since Six Days on the Road was written:

Well I pulled outta Pittsburgh a rollin' down that Eastern Sea board
I got my diesel wound up and she's a runnin' like a never before
There's a speed zone ahead alright, I don't see a cop in sight
Six days on the road and I'm a gonna make it home tonight

I got me ten forward gears and a sweet Georgia overdrive
Takin' little white pills and my eyes are open wide
I just passed a Jimmy and a White, I've been passin' everything in sight
Six days on the road and I'm a gonna make it home tonight

Well it seems like a month since I kissed my baby goodbye
I could have a lotta women but I'm not like that sort of a guy
I could find one to hold me tight but I could never make believe it's alright
Six days on the road and I'm a gonna make it home tonight

ICC is a checkin' on down the line
I'm a little overweight and my log book's way behind
But nothin' bothers me tonight, I can dodge all the scales alright
Six days on the road and I'm a gonna make it home tonight

Well my rig's a little old but that don't mean she's slow
There's a flame from my stack and that smoke's blowin' black as coal
My hometown's a comin' in sight, if you think I'm a happy you're right
Six days on the road and I'm a gonna make it home tonight

There's enough offences in those lyrics to keep a prosecutor busy for a month!

BTW, a Jimmy is a GMC truck , a White is another brand of truck.
A Georgia overdrive is slamming it into neutral on down gradients.

Those guys knew how to drive!

The Government's attempt to placate the public with easing of restrictions of foreign holidays is looking set to backfire.

While King Boris thinks he can wave his arms and allow his peasants to go to on a 2 week holiday to a few more European destinations, Europe is starting to look at the UK with increasing alarm. It's the Delta variant that Boris invited into the country.

With over 16000 cases on Thursday alone, and 99% being the Delta type, the UK is becoming the plague pit of Europe again.

Europe is taking notice and starting to close the doors. Merkel wants a EU wide policy to follow Germany's policy of making travellers from the UK to self isolate upon arrival. She usually gets what she wants. If you are thinking of getting out of the UK at the moment, I wouldn't leave it too long.

The relative lack of vaccination coverage across the EU has led to fears the variant could inflict a heavier death toll in the 27 member states than in Britain.

Belgium has announced that it is banning British travellers from Saturday, following the German chancellor Angela Merkel’s call for other EU leaders to impose tougher restrictions.

Portugal’s prime minister, António Costa, had opened up the country to British tourists who can provide proof of a negative Covid test, but he hinted at a summit in Brussels that he could make U-turn.

He said Merkel was “completely right” about needing “to coordinate regarding our external borders, since we have freedom of movement within the EU”.

A summit communique issued in the name of the 27 EU member states said they would “be vigilant and coordinated with regard to developments, particularly the emergence and spread of variants”.

Downing Street has tried not to be drawn into a row over the restrictions. “Currently it is down to individual EU member states to decide on the rules governing their borders,” a No 10 spokesperson said on Thursday.

In more news, her brother is the director of a firm that has won many NHS contracts recently. So, nothing sleazy going on there...

Another pressing question is how did a woman that wanted to kiss that gormless stunned mullet ever get a job in the corridors of power?
Interviewer: Would you snog Matt Hancock?
A: Yes.
Interviewer: Thanks for coming.

It has since emerged that a relative of Ms Coladangelo is an executive at a private healthcare company which has won a string of NHS contracts.

Sky News revealed on Friday that Roberto Coladangelo works at Partnering Health Limited (PHL Group), a specialist in the provision of urgent and primary care services to NHS patients.
