Re: The curfew imposed in many countries
If you tried really really hard you might even be able to get your posts down to one sentence or one word .404FreedomNotFound wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 6:06 am I get your point @Yerg, I guess my way of approaching the question was biased due to thinking of the subject after reading the newly imposed curfew in thailand. It could make a lot more sense in the UK indeed.
And yes @atst , I'm working on reducing the size of my post, I'm not at down to one paragraph yet, but slowly getting there. I agree that I killed readability on other threads.
I'm not doing too bad though on this thread, shorter post could lead this forum to have a twitter feel and mindset which might not be in it's best interest.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Cowshed Cowboy what you're saying could be it when it comes to Thailand indeed, it seems that overall, we are starting to slash freedoms in order to solve issues created by the previous freedoms we removed.
(See I just did it Duncan!!!! one sentence!!... oh wait.... does this extra comment counts? :p)

Closing all shops including 7/11 at night gives them time to restock and clean thoroughly without having any customers present.
But ultimately, in Thailand, I think it's mostly a question of policing the population. Nighttime robberies, illegal street racing, drug parties, etc. It's also meant to ram home the point that this is serious and that the government means business.

Sure, it's usually the fun things that get banned first, and then unbanned the last. The reason is to show who's boss!

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Even better would be down to zero words.Duncan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 7:47 amIf you tried really really hard you might even be able to get your posts down to one sentence or one word .404FreedomNotFound wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 6:06 am I get your point @Yerg, I guess my way of approaching the question was biased due to thinking of the subject after reading the newly imposed curfew in thailand. If you ever wondered what it was like living in North Korea, then just head to UK, Italy, France or Spain instead.

shut down the economy, zap the lower working class thais that barely have any money beyond next week anyways, close convenience stores because of potential crime, institute the night curfew and deploy militarized police and military to enforce, situation solved (except that the thais are going broke)Cowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 7:46 am I think certainly in Thailand anyway the imposition of a night time curfew may be partly a recognition of the gradual threat an increased level of crime the longer the general shutdown continues. 7-11's were quick to self impose a ceasing of night hours early on here.
problem, reaction, solution. it's all planned. I'm waiting for the change of subservient sheeple to angry people. hopefully that anger is directed at their govt.

Well if this situation doesn't eventually spark some kind of backlash against the privileged establishment few who have virtually all the wealth in the country I don't know what will. It just emphasises the subsistence economy that Thailand is for the vast majority of the population.glennb6 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 7:37 amshut down the economy, zap the lower working class thais that barely have any money beyond next week anyways, close convenience stores because of potential crime, institute the night curfew and deploy militarized police and military to enforce, situation solved (except that the thais are going broke)Cowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 7:46 am I think certainly in Thailand anyway the imposition of a night time curfew may be partly a recognition of the gradual threat an increased level of crime the longer the general shutdown continues. 7-11's were quick to self impose a ceasing of night hours early on here.
