Cambodia News (Svay Rieng): On April 01, 2020, at noon, Bavet police collaborated with the Anti-drug department, and the Bavet prosecutor, Mr. Kam Sophary, in a raid on a rented room suspected of being used for drug trafficking and kidnapping people in Bavet city, Svay Rieng.

The police released 15 Vietnamese, including 3 women, who had been kidnapped and held for ransom. After that, the police raided two other rooms which were unoccupied and found two packs of meth and the equipment for smoking.


A 35-year-old Vietnamese woman, the manager of the rented house, said an unidentified Vietnamese woman who worked at the Sun club, stayed in room no. 6, but she also had another rented room on the 3th-floor at Soben Pises hotel, in Bavet city. The police continued to check at the hotel and found three packs of meth, pills, a big pack of white powder, lots of vials of other powder of different colors, three laptops, an iPad, three phones, some cash money, some documents, lots of shisha pipes, and other drug equipment.

The evidence was sent to the provincial police station for case preparation. Somehow, in the confusion, the suspect ran away and managed to escape the police forces.
