Terrible times...
Is Coronavirus Causing a Beer Shortage in the U.S.?
By Seren Morris On 7/24/20 at 6:14 AM EDT
Americans may be unable to get their hands on their favorite beer brands at the moment, as the coronavirus pandemic has caused an aluminum can shortage.

Due to bars and restaurants being closed during lockdown, there is less beer currently in kegs. Instead, the beer that would have been served at bars and restaurants is being sold in cans for drinkers to enjoy at home.

Conversely, there is more of a demand for cans of beer as some people—especially millennials—have been drinking more while stay-at-home orders and social distancing guidelines are in place.

Additionally, Americans stocked up on cans of beer in the spring, when lockdowns and stay at home orders were first being implemented across the U.S.

Brian Erhardt, chief supply chain officer at Molson Coors BeverageCo., told industry outlet Inside.Beer that in the first eight weeks of stay-at-home laws twice produced packaged beer orders at Fourth of July levels.

Aside from the rise in demand and consumption of beer cans, the rising popularity of drinks like seltzer water—which is also sold in cans—means that the demand for aluminum is increasing generally.

The shortage has meant that there are longer wait times on orders of aluminum cans and that some cans have increased in price.

Sinclair delays interview containing Fauci Covid-19 conspiracy theory
‘Plandemic’ researcher claims expert created the coronavirus
25 July 2020
Sinclair Television said on Saturday it would delay airing an interview with a conspiracy theorist who claims baselessly that Dr Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease expert, created the coronavirus behind the current pandemic.

Dr Judy Mikovits, a former research scientist, is behind the widely discredited Plandemic video, which makes a string of false and outlandish claims including that any coronavirus vaccine will kill millions and that beaches should not be closed because the sand and ocean will somehow treat Covid-19.

Fauci is the 79-year-old director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He has served six presidents, but Donald Trump has sought to keep him off television, called him “alarmist” and frequently undermined his work.

The US is in the grip of a worsening coronavirus outbreak in which more than 4.1m cases have been recorded and more than 145,000 people have died.

Mikovits’ lawyer, Larry Klayman, was also interviewed on Sinclair’s America This Week with the former Fox News host Eric Bolling. Footage was posted online.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors far-right groups in the US, Klayman, the founder of the Judicial Watch, is “a pathologically litigious attorney and professional gadfly notorious for suing everyone from Iran’s supreme leader to his own mother”.

On Bolling’s show, Klayman and Mikovits said they planned to sue Fauci because, Mikovits claimed, in the last decade the doctor “manufactured” and shipped coronaviruses to Wuhan, China, the origin of the pandemic.

Yes, everybody has the choice but if you are on someones property, or like here we see it is the rules of the shop, so he is not going too be served. Now it doesn't seem to work like that at all places, for example Super Duper have the rule, wear the mask whilst you shop, in the entrance there are masks for 1000reil if you happen too forget. I used to shop after 12pm being a little quiet. But now there are many Chinese and the odd westerners in at those times, and no way will they wear a mask.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Sydney, Australia: Horny ADF Officer in Quarantine Entices Female Hotel Guest for a Bit of Slap and Tickle

ADF quarantine breach: Officer, 26, woman, 53, fined after quarantine breach in luxury hotel

New details have emerged about how a 26-year-old officer came to be “entertaining” a woman, 53, in his coronavirus quarantine hotel room.

September 15, 202011:17pm

A 26-year-old air force officer was caught “entertaining” a 53-year-old woman into his hotel quarantine room after the pair reportedly caught sight of each other through their windows.

The pair each received a $1000 fine after the woman’s voice was heard in the ADF officer’s room, NSW police said.

The man was a serving ADF member who is undertaking quarantine after returning from overseas. The woman is reported to be a guest at the Pier One hotel in Sydney.

The two, who were strangers, are believed to have decided to become more closely acquainted after seeing each other through the windows of their respective rooms at the luxury Sydney hotel, according to Daily Mail reports.

It is believed he and the woman then began communicating via their mobile phones.

At some point, the RAAF officer snuck the woman, who comes from Hornsby in Sydney’s north, into his room.

At 12.45am on Tuesday, Australian Defence Force personnel conducting security in the corridors of the harbourside hotel became suspicious when they heard a female voice through the door of a room.

When they investigated, they found the woman, who was not undertaking quarantine, in the soldier’s room.

She was escorted from the room and the hotel’s quarantine section and directed to check out immediately while police were called.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended the hotel, which is managed by the ADF, before speaking separately with the officer and the woman.

“After extensive inquiries by police, the man, 26, and woman, 53, who was the man’s guest, were both fined $1000 for fail to comply with noticed direction in relation to Section 7/8/9 – COVID-19.” NSW Police said in a statement.

The woman was directed to check out of the hotel immediately, and undergo a COVID-19 test before isolating at her Hornsby home.
The man remains in hotel quarantine and the ADF are conducting further inquiries.

Culled mink rise from the dead to Denmark's horror
Carcasses rose to surface at improvised mass grave owing to gases from decomposition
Jon Henley
Wed 25 Nov 2020 17.29 GMT

Dead mink are rising from their graves in Denmark after a rushed cull over fears of a coronavirus mutation led to thousands being slaughtered and buried in shallow pits – from which some are now emerging.

“As the bodies decay, gases can be formed,” Thomas Kristensen, a national police spokesman, told the state broadcaster DR. “This causes the whole thing to expand a little. In this way, in the worst cases, the mink get pushed out of the ground.”

Police in West Jutland, where several thousand mink were buried in a mass grave on a military training field, have tried to counter the macabre phenomenon by shovelling extra soil on top of the corpses, which are in a 1 metre-deep trench.

“This is a natural process,” Kristensen said. “Unfortunately, one metre of soil is not just one metre of soil –it depends on what type of soil it is. The problem is that the sandy soil in West Jutland is too light. So we have had to lay more soil on top.”

Adding to the popular concern, local media reported that the animals may also have been buried too close to lakes and underground water reserves, prompting fears of possible contamination of ground and drinking water supplies.

“It seems like no one really knows the consequences of this,” Susan Münster of the Danish water board told Jyllands Posten. “I must confess I find it worrying.” At least two local mayors had demanded the mink be dug up and incinerated, Münster said.

One local politician, Leif Brogger, told the newspaper: “The authorities are playing with our environment, and using it as a dumping ground.”

Photos and videos of the emerging bodies have set social media buzzing in Denmark, with one Twitter user calling 2020 “the year of the zombie mutant killer mink” and another calling on the population to “run … The mink are coming for you.”

Coronavirus kills digital-only bank 'Xinja'

Blaming it on covid or was it an unfortunate naming of the bank? :chin:

Aussie digital-only bank Xinja will close its savings and transaction accounts, saying the pandemic had stifled its ability to attract new investors.

“Obviously, this has been an incredibly tough call as all of us here wanted to be able to offer you a new, amazing way to bank, but after COVID-19 and an increasingly difficult capital raising environment affecting who is willing to invest in a new bank, we are convinced that the best thing for Xinja is to pivot away from being a bank,” Xinja said.

Xinja said it would hand back its banking licence to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.

Why the name 'Xinja'?
Xinja (pronounced 'Zinja' - rhymes with 'Ninja') is a bit of fun. 😇

We wanted a name with a bit of 'zing' (or 'xing'!) in it and yes, the connection with Ninja is intentional; Xinja is your money ninja - we're fast and we've got your back 💸

Who owns Xinja?
Xinja Bank (which is the more fun trading name of the less fun Xinja Bank Limited) is owned by several investors, including about 1000 'Founding Xinjas' or customers who've decided to get a piece of Xinja through our equity crowdfunding raise. 💸

Xinja was founded by our CEO Eric Wilson. Eric is absolutely passionate about bringing a great banking experience to Australians, one that actually helps them manage their money much better with much less angst. 😇
