There is no way the government is going to bite the hand that puts money into their pockets. Bugger the people they have themselves to consider

So, Vietnam was stoked to get them the fuck out of their country and they crossed the border at night when it was less obvious.
The Hotel/casino showed some balls to call the cops.
They need to be quarantined for 2 weeks and pay for their housing, food and 2 negative tests...before being allowed any further into the country.
I think believing any case figures the chinese puts out is insane..
After the cat got out of the bag, or the bat in this case, china was forced to admit the virus was in Wuhan; it was never going to be fully honest about the numbers.
They would never be honest with their own population.
Why would anyone believe they would tell the rest of the world the true facts?

According to this article from KT, this Chinese tour group of 174 people arrived from Phnom Penh by bus. When and where the Chinese tourists arrived in Cambodia is not mentioned, nor where they stayed prior to their arrival in Bavet, but no doubt the authorities are investigating.

9 mins ago - BREAKING NEWS
More than 170 Chinese tourists quarantined in Bavet city
Svay Rieng Provincial Health Department has quarantined 174 Chinese nationals to ensure they are not infected with COVID-19 upon their arrival in Bavet city last night, an official said.

Keo Ratha, director of Provincial Health Department, said that 174 Chinese tourists have been quarantined since yesterday at a hotel in Bavet city after they travelled from Phnom Penh.

He said that health officials are checking their health.

“We found two Chinese nationals with body temperature exceeding 38 degree Celsius. Now they are being isolated at the provincial referral hospital,” Mr Ratha said, noting that samples were sent to Pasteur Institute.

Pangolins. It was pangolins this time. China's all set to blame foreigners for their second go of covid, just look at what's coming out of Hong Kong.

Oh, a Chinese tourist group of almost 200 people touring the casinos of SEA. That sounds like responsible travel in this time of lockdown. What could go wrong ? :o Well done the Bavet authorities for stepping up and taking responsibility for quarantining this group.

I wonder if they had time to visit Nagaworld casino in Phnom Penh before they left for Bavet. :BangHead:

More to the point, I wonder how many other tour groups like this are still arriving in Cambodia and travelling about the country with no health controls at all ?

They were workers in Phils, laid off and trying to get home via Cambodia according to another website.

Chinese workers going to Bavet from PP doesn't make much sense though (without further info). There are still direct flights to China from PP, and some flights from SHV, but Bavet has no airport, and the land border to Vietnam has been closed for some days.

i read they were 'tourists' and went through the border, but maybe that's not the case

why would they go to bavet to arrange onward travel, after being in phnom penh?

i think someone should take a close look at the internet traffic between the 'quarantine' hotel and chinese online gamblers

.
