Problem with Mobile Internet in the provinces

Post by daeum_tnaot »

People often believe that Cambodia has great mobile internet in the provinces, but not in my experience. My partner's land is near a main road but we can hardly use mobile internet at all. Even reading a news article was challenging with Cellcard. Recently I also tried Smart and Metfone with only slightly better results. It's frustrating and unfortunate since most of my work requires connecting to the internet.

I wondered if there is some technical way to solve this problem, for example, is there some kind of antenna that you can use to get better wireless reception? Of course, this assumes that the problem is a poor connection, whereas it is also possible the mobile companies aren't making enough bandwidth available.

A cable/wire connection for wifi seems like it would be expensive in the province.

Any thoughts on how to get around this problem? Thanks,
