Have you considered teaching English online? I use to teach in schools here and made the switch to teaching online. I really don't know why anyone chooses teaching in school, unless they're at a nice international school. Local schools pay between $1000-$1200/month for 40 hr work weeks. In my case the management was terrible, though that's not the case for everyone. The classes had kids of different ages and abilities. I hated being sweaty and hot in the hot season and getting soaked on the way to school in the rainy season. I could go on.

If you teach online you can do half the work for twice the pay. You chose how many hours and days you want to work. You can can travel whenever you feel like as long as the place your going has a stable wifi connection. There's only 1 student per class and no management do deal with. I know ppl who work a ton of hours online to support a family and some who only work enough to party and travel. I needed extra money this month so I worked a lot but I plan to only work 5hr days and and 5 day weeks which will pay $2197 per month. The other nice thing is if an opportunity should come your way, you have the freedom to try something else and not worry about being tied to schedule and school.

i have a pakistani passport but i'll be flying in from the middle east. dunno if my nationality is gonna get in the way of things but knowing the way the world works, it probably will. still will they actually bar me from entering? or just be more strict in their inquiries? i'm gonna have an e-visa (the electronic one) in hand if that's any help.

1st; i think you need a visa from an embassy not online
and not to be racist, but chances of landing a good paying job are pretty slim

no, i checked online and i qualify for an e-visa
doesn't have to be good paying, just enough to get me by. i can always do a couple certs and find something better afterwards. if i don't find anything right away there are a bunch of places that offer room and board for volunteering. question is, will getting into cambodia be an issue or not?

As a Pakistani passport holder you are not eligible for any Visa on Arrival.
Yes, you can obtain an e-Visa (electronic TOURIST visa) online in advance.
Having an e-Visa does not guarantee you will be granted entry to Cambodia, that is at the discretion of Cambodian Immigration Officials upon your arrival.
You cannot work on a Tourist Visa, and you can only obtain 1x 1 month extension of a Tourist Visa

To work legally you need to enter Cambodia on an E-type (Ordinary) Visa (not to be confused with the e-Visa). You can then apply for the EB (Business) Extension of Stay and Work Permit.
As a Pakistani passport holder you must apply for this visa in advance from a Cambodian Embassy/Consulate. In order to do so you require an offer of employment and extensive supporting documentation from your employer.

Therefore, your only real course of action is;

1- Enter on an e-Visa (if Immigration allow you)
2- Find employment with an employer who will support your application for an E-type Visa and obtain all of the necessary supporting documentation
3- Leave the country and apply for the E-type Visa in Advance from the Cambodian Embassy in Malaysia
4- Return to Cambodia on the E-type Visa
5- Apply for 12 month EB EOS and Work Permit

or, Gain employment with a Cambodian employer before even stepping foot in Cambodia and follow the above steps 2-5.
