Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

They've not mentioned an explicit ban on booze (though there is an odd reference to banning businesses described as "alcohol shops and drinking"), and there does seem to be a loophole for some eateries/establishments that follow guidelines (however this is quite vague). Stay safe and stock up. Link below.

Unfortunately, sales of booze banned started today for two weeks.

AKP Phnom Penh, July 31, 2021 --

Cambodia is expected to get in total some 26 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines by mid-August through purchases and donations, said H.E. Dr. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health this morning.

While welcoming the arrival of 1 million doses of Sinovac vaccine Cambodia bought from China at Phnom Penh International Airport, the secretary of state pointed out that with the 26 million doses, Cambodia will achieve its goal of vaccinating 13 million people or over 80 percent of the total population of 16 million.

If nothing changes, she continued, 415,000 doses of AstraZeneca donated by UK will arrive Cambodia next week on Aug. 3 or 4.

Along with the newly-arrived one million doses of Sinovac, Cambodia also received some 300,000 rapid antigen test kits donated by China.

Cambodia has now nearly 19 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in stock through purchases and donations: 6.2 million doses of Sinopharm, 11.5 million doses of Sinovac, 656,000 doses of AstraZeneca, and 455,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson.

As of yesterday, 7,233,247 adult people have got their first jab, or 72.33 percent of the planned 10 million people for the vaccination, among them 4,729,605 have been fully vaccinated.

Tomorrow, Cambodia is going to launch the vaccination campaign of children aged from 12 to 17 under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE.

I thought they got 1/2 million of the JnJ with another 1/2 coming courtesy of the US? Where’s the love.

Cambodia has gotten quite lucky/skillful with the donations. That's enough to cover pretty much the whole population in very little time.

As far as I can tell/recall, they've only purchased like 9-10M doses. Happy to be proven wrong though. I haven't seen much info about it and KT always says they're donations (besides the doses that were purchased fairly early on via that weird funding drive, and the more recent purchase of around 10M).
