Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

^Reason for the above:
UPDATE
Cambodia has also discovered the presence of the Delta variant brought by imported cases through foreign travelers, especially those from Thailand through the land border. The recent discovery of a growing numbers of the Delta variants on Cambodian workers returning from mainland Thailand is a major concern and a significant threat.

I am sorry but the wording does not make sence overall - he Delta variant brought by imported cases through foreign travellers.
Who are the foreign travellers?

Then - especially those from Thailand through the land border. I was under the understanding the land borders are closed to foreign travellers?

Then again - The recent discovery of a growing numbers of the Delta variants on Cambodian workers returning from mainland Thailand.

These geographical blockades are impossible to maintain, especially in the provinces. Hell, they weren't even able to do them in Phnom Penh. People walked in and out all the time. Why bother? Completely out of touch, lol.

Its not about being effective.

It's about being seen to be effective.

The affected provinces that are ‘blocked’ are: Koh Kong, Pursat, Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear and Siem Reap provinces.

Travel from the affected provinces will be prohibited and Provincial Governors will have the ability to enforce curfews as well as Red, Orange and Yellow Zones .

does this also mean no cross provincial traveling at all or only from these areas?

To little to late, Delta variant is running unchecked thought-out the area

Yes, Cambodians returning home. (As you say land borders still closed to everyone else)

I'd imagine the reason that mention foreign travellers is there always needs to be someone to blame

Agreed, they're doing an amazing job. They did 220,640 jabs on the 16th July (best day to date). Really is a race to get it done, considering they are doing the minimum in terms of other prevention strategies.
