Not many really is it. I thought the original promise was 20% of population, that's more like 4-6%

I've read that Cambodia is aiming to vaccinate 10m adults, so it's about 10%. COVAX has just received pledges for $2.4B towards the project so maybe they will ramp up their rollout.

New “Indian” COVID-19 mutation found on migrant workers returning to Cambodia
The Ministry of Health of Cambodia has announced that it has found the mutated B1.617 COVID-19 virus – also known as the “Indian variant” – in three workers returning from Thailand.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health dated June 4, 2021, the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge has detected the presence of B1.617 COVID-19 in three patients – all of whom are Cambodian workers returning from Thailand.

The affected individuals are:
A 27-year-old female who is being treated at Oddar Meanchey Provincial Hospital
A 46-year-old male who is being treated at Ek Phnom Hospital, Battambang Province
A 43-year-old woman who is being treated at Maung Russey Hospital in Battambang Province.

PHNOM PENH, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Friday confirmed the first three cases of a more infectious COVID-19 variant, B.1.617, which first emerged in India, Health Minister Mam Bunheng said in a statement.

"On June 4, 2021, laboratory testing by the Pasteur Institute in Cambodia found new COVID-19 variant B1617 on three patients, who are Cambodian laborers coming back from Thailand via a land border," he said.

US embassy guard gets Covid despite two doses of Pfizer jab
Post Staff | Publication date 04 June 2021 | 17:17 ICT

The Covid-19 tracking commission on June 4 said a security guard at the US embassy in Phnom Penh had contracted the novel coronavirus, despite having received a second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech shot two weeks ago.

Embassy spokesperson Chad Roedemeier confirmed the SARS-CoV-2 infection to The Post.

“The employee is in strict quarantine and getting appropriate medical attention,” he said. “The embassy is working closely with Cambodian health authorities to ensure we meet all government health requirements to prevent any further spread of Covid-19.”

Roedemeier declined to elaborate due to privacy concerns.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that in some rare instances, people may still contract the pathogen even after full vaccination. The global UN health body urges vigilance at all times.

But at just two weeks after having received his second dose, the security guard may not have built up sufficient immunity to prevent infection.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cautions that it usually takes the body two weeks after inoculation to develop an immunity against the coronavirus, but it could take longer.

“You are not fully vaccinated until two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine or two weeks after a one-dose vaccine,” it said.

Just saw on the news that the US is donating tens of millions of doses of vaccine - Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, etc, that Americans don’t want to COVAX for distribution.

These vaccines have a shelf life of only 6 months and are near the end of shelf life. And so will need to be given quickly.

Perhaps Cambodia will benefit with several million doses. And suddenly finding it’s way into the foreigners living in the Kingdom of Wonder.

I doubt they will be bringing any of the ones that need to be stored at -70C here. And I wouldn't trust them if they did.

They can probably get here just fine and be stored in Phnom Penh by competent authorities just fine. Beyond that it’s questionable. I bet people would travel to PP for it.
