We'll be needing annual shots at the very least. Might get Sinovac/Sinopharm for now and in six or 12 months we might be able to get the groovy French multi-strain one, if it all pans out well.

This is paywalled and I don't have a subscription but we get the idea.

Non-resident Indians, businessmen and multinational employees stuck in India due to the Covid second wave are looking to make a short visit to countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka or even Laos to avoid residency issues that may trigger tax complications.

As per the current regulations, anyone staying in India for more than 182 days is liable to pay domestic taxes.

Looks like the virus has now started to spread away from PP.

Yesterday 360 cases, only 130 in PP.

Hard to get a full breakdown of figures now but this guys does his best.

Around 150 Preah Sihanouk prisoners transferred to Kampot after C-19 outbreak

Authorities have evacuated more than 100 female prisoners from Preah Sihanouk province to Kampot Provincial Prison due to an outbreak of Covid-19 within the inmates, according to Preah Sihanouk provincial police chief Major General Chuon Narin.

Maj Gen Narin said he decided to temporarily transfer 146 female prisoners from Preah Sihanouk Provincial Prison to Kampot after they tested negative for Covid-19.

Authorities are monitoring other prisoners, he said, but no new inmates are suspected of having the deadly virus.

He added that the prisoners will not be brought back to Preah Sihanouk Provincial Prison until the outbreak is under control.

Human Rights Adhoc coordinator for Preah Sihanouk province Chiep Sotheary said any detainees who are to be released from the prison must quarantine for 14 days prior.

General Department of Prisons spokesman Lieutenant General Nuth Savna, told Khmer Times yesterday that the 146 inmates are being housed in a separate building in Kampot Provincial Prison and are not allowed to mix with Kampot inmates. They have also been categorised according to their age and health.

Em Bo, director of Kampot Provincial Prison, said the relocated prisoners are in good health and are being taken care of.

Two villages in Kampong Chhnang reopened after lockdown
Kampong Chhnang provincial authorities have reopened two villages in Boribo district, three weeks after a lockdown due to Covid-19 outbreak.

The provincial hall has locked down Chhnuk Trou and Kampong Preah villages in Chhnuk Trou commune since April 27, banning people from gathering, leaving and entering the two villages except for emergencies.

However, on May 12 the authorities extended the lockdown for another week due to concerns over a severe outbreak of the deadly virus.

In his decision today, Provincial governor Chhour Chandoeun decided to end the lockdown and reopening of the two villages, but urged people to strictly follow health measures set by the Ministry of Health.

WHO Says Increase in COVID-19 Cases Per Capita Slows in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, May 19, 2021 --

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said Wednesday that the increase in Cambodia’s cumulative COVID-19 cases per capita slowed in the latest reporting week.

The Weekly Epidemiological Update released by the WHO in Geneva overnight also showed that Cambodia remained among six ASEAN countries reporting relatively low cumulative deaths per capita.

According to the update, Cambodia had 132.7 cumulative cases per 100,000 of population as of Sunday. That was up 15 percent from 115.1 a week earlier when cases rose 33 percent from the previous seven-day period.

The slower growth in cumulative cases per capita reflected a decline in the number of new cases to 2,947, down from 4,717 a week earlier.

But for the entire Western Pacific Region where Cambodia is located, the WHO said the number of new cases rose 4 percent to 132,000 — with the highest numbers from Japan, the Philippines and Malaysia.

"These three countries comprised 89 percent of all cases reported in the Region in the past week,” the WHO said.

In terms of cumulative cases per 100,000 in ASEAN countries, Malaysia had the highest number (1,440.8 ) followed by Singapore (1,051.8 ), the Philippines (1,038.7), Indonesia (634.9), Myanmar (262.9) and Thailand (145.3).

Three ASEAN countries had fewer cumulative cases than Cambodia — Brunei (53.0), Laos (21.6) and Vietnam (4.2).

In Northeast Asia, Japan had the highest number of cumulative cases per 100,000 people (536.1) followed by South Korea (256.8 ) and China (7.1).

In terms of cumulative deaths, six ASEAN countries had fewer than one death per 100,000 — Cambodia (0.9), Thailand (0.8 ), Brunei (0.7) and Singapore (0.5) along with Vietnam and Laos (fewer than 0.1).

Indonesia had the highest deaths per capita among ASEAN countries (17.5) followed by the Philippines (17.4), Myanmar (5.9) and Malaysia (5.8 ).

Deaths per capita in Northeast Asia were highest in Japan (9.1) followed by South Korea (3.7) and China (0.3).

^ Despite this, I think that any vaccine is better than no vaccine. If Cambodians are offered a Chinese vaccine, I would encourage them to take what is offered. Sinopharm vaccine may be not as efficient as other vaccines, but at least it has passed the WHO safety test, and you are better off being 50% vaccinated than not at all IMO.
