China has donated 88,000 boxes of traditional medicine Lianhua Qingwen Capsules to Cambodia to help treat COVID-19 patients in the Southeast Asian nation.
Lianhua Qingwen Capsules, a patented traditional Chinese medicine widely used in China to treat symptoms of COVID-19 patients, was on Tuesday licensed by Cambodia’s Ministry of Health for use.
Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian handed over the medicine to Cambodia’s Health Minister Mam Bunheng on Thursday at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health in Phnom Penh.
The medicine was donated by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia through the Chinese embassy.
Speaking to reporters at the event, Bunheng expressed his profound thanks to China, saying that the medicine would help Cambodia fight against COVID-19.
“We’re very happy to receive this traditional Chinese medicine,” he said. “China’s assistance including medical experts, medical equipment and supplies, a COVID-19 lab, and vaccines is essential for Cambodia to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19 and to take care of our people’s health.”

I think the only thing that can stop this now is mass inoculation, which wouldn't necessarily reduce transmissions, but the rate of hospitalization would be drastically small.
1.34m doses as of 30/4.

Lianhua Qingwen does in nob means treat Covid19, in fact the herbal medicine must only be prescribed, because it can be dangerous in some cases.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Looking at the latest list of cases, there were 9 or 10 in Phsar Kandal 1 (Street 5) so I'd assume it'll stay orange for a while longer. None for Phsar Chas or Kandal 2 though.
Also, lots of cases in Boeung Kak 2, that's quite a serious hot spot now.

Sending just the medicine itself without expertise in how to when to use and how to use it might be worse than useless.AndyKK wrote:Lianhua Qingwen does in nob means treat Covid19, in fact the herbal medicine must only be prescribed, because it can be dangerous in some cases.
Unless it’s being sent with thousands of expert herbalists (ie, those from national universities) to diagnose who would benefit as well as carefully administer it to patients.
If not, might as just well just send pallets of Tsingtao beer to Cambodia instead.

Military to jab 450,000 in red zones in one month
Mom Kunthear | Publication date 02 May 2021 | 19:04 ICT
A total of 23,658 people in designated red zones in four districts of Phnom Penh were vaccinated on the first day of a large-scale campaign administered by the Ministry of National Defence.
The military’s goal is to vaccinate 450,000 people in its one-month campaign in the four districts’ red zones including Meanchey, Dangkor, Kambol, and Por Sen Chey.
Ith Sarath – Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Joint Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces who is overseeing the campaign in Phnom Penh – said on April 30 that the campaign will vaccinate people in the the districts’ 33 communes.
The first phase of vaccinations administering the first dose to each person will take place from May 1-15 and the second phase will be from May 16-30.
“This vaccination is for all people aged 18 and over … The total number of people to be vaccinated is nearly 500,000,” he said.
Sarath said a total of 900,000 doses of vaccines – 500,000 doses Sinovac and 400,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines – provided by the national vaccination commission had already arrived and was in a defence ministry warehouse.
The defence ministry said the one-month vaccination campaign will employ 1,490 medical workers deployed at 45 sites within the 33 communes.
