Thai /Cambodian land borders are open for returning migrant workers.
Over 5,000 have passed thru in the past few weeks, they are quarantined at the border

Quarantine site in north Phnom Penh inaugurated

A four-building quarantine centre in Phnom Penh’s Prek Pnov district was formally inaugurated on January 6.

The centre can house up to 500 people, according to Phnom Penh municipal governor Khuong Sreng.

At the inauguration ceremony, Sreng said the municipal hall had cooperated with the Ministry of Health to construct the centre because in the past quarantine accommodations had to be improvised using locations like schools, military barracks and hotels.

“Flight passengers from abroad arriving in Cambodia via Phnom Penh International Airport have two options – they can spend their own money quarantining at a hotel or a guesthouse, or for those who have less money or want to quarantine without having to spend money, they can stay at this centre,” he said.

He added that Prime Minister HE ordered the health ministry and the municipal administration to rapidly complete preparations for the quarantine centre because on January 11 schools will reopen to begin the new academic year.

Sreng continued that each building can house up to 126 people in quarantine. The rooms were designed according to ministry’s specifications.

“Out here, the air quality is good and the location is good for quarantine purposes because the buildings are far from any residences,” he said.

Half of this doesn't make any sense to me, above it says 5000 have passed over the border in past weeks, then there are people flying in every day, the border points can't cope with the amount and isolate people.
Then you have this new center building above that can accommodate up to 500.
It's the numbers that are concerning, they just don't add up, meaning they can't possibly put the amount in isolation.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

They ask them to isolate at home. You can imagine how effective that method is...

Thailand shuts border market amid outbreak
Thai authorities decided to close the Rong Kluea Market located near the Cambodia-Thailand border from January 10 until further notice as part of their efforts to contain a widespread outbreak of Covid-19 in Thailand.

Sa Kaeo provincial authorities in Thailand sent notice to the Banteay Meanchey provincial governor that they were implementing increased restrictions on their side of the border and they further requested that the Cambodian authorities follow suit.
“Cancel all measures that allow Cambodian people to exit and enter the Rong Kluea Market for the transportation of essential goods from January 10, 2021 onwards,” the notice said.
In the past, Thai authorities had allowed Cambodia to send 50 trucks carrying goods along with 100 people to Rong Kluea Market.

“Previously, we had permission for this allowance because the Covid-19 situation had subsided. But Covid-19 has become widespread there so they have the right to close [the market] and they informed us of this in the correct manner,” he said.

Touch Mony said that everyone who crossed the border was now required to quarantine even if they claimed that they hadn’t gone anywhere or entered the market.
2,500 entered from one crossing.
According to Rado, from December 20, 2020 to January 7, 2021, more than 2,500 migrant workers have returned to Cambodia through the border crossing checkpoints in Banteay Meanchey.

Only 20-30 of those workers had been released from quarantine so far, Rado said.

On January 6, two Cambodia migrant workers tested positive for Covid-19.

this is scary;
Cambodia at risk of being last in line for vaccines
Lack of coherent inoculation plan means a majority of Cambodians may not be vaccinated until mid-2023
Whether or not Cambodian Prime Minister HE meant to snub China when he said his nation would only accept internationally-recognized Covid-19 vaccines seems like an increasingly moot point without a coherent inoculation rollout plan.

With an exceptionally weak healthcare system, feeble bureaucracy and faltering finances, Cambodian hopes for entering a post-pandemic era in 2021 are fast diminishing as richer states buy up limited vaccines for their own citizens.

“No one knows anything at all” about when the vaccine rollout will begin, a source with knowledge of the Cambodian government’s planning who spoke to Asia Times on condition of anonymity said.

“Cambodia is really still in ‘will we get it’ mode rather than ‘vaccine preparation’ mode,” the source said, adding that sentiment in Phnom Penh is that it’s a “long way off” before vaccines start to arrive in the country.

“We therefore do not expect Cambodia to immunize 60% of its population until sometime between June 2022 and June 2023,” she added.

Nothing scary just a fact of life , the rich will be vaccinated before the poor and as HE said better to wait for a vaccination that is approved rather than the first one to come out of China (unlike thailand)
