Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

rest assured it will be changed again and again before the 1st>
cant imagine how many will book the 1st & 5th nights an never show up for the 5th night test, cause they went somewhere else?
and the fact its still a heavy expensive to have to pay for a test before flight and 2 in thailand + insurance

only the truly die hards will travel> cant see them hitting the 8 million mark this year that they anticipate.

form the link in the above article
Also on Wednesday, the Public Health Ministry suggested that overseas visitors take out comprehensive health insurance that covers all Covid-19 treatment cases. Dr Kiattiphum Wongrajit, the public health permanent secretary, said visitors must ensure they are fully covered for all types of Covid-19 treatments.
so read the fine print in ur policy< are you covered if u test positive but no symptoms ?

this would scare me into NOT travelling to thailand in the next month or so>
Out of the 164 International travellers that tested positive yesterday, more than 50% tested positive on their 2nd test.

Day 0: TG (15) and S (55)
Day 1-3: TG (1) and S (0)
Day 4-7: TG (20) and S (62)
After Day 7: TG (11) and S (0)

so you catch it in Thailand and so ends ur vacation..;-(

You have to book and pay for day 1 and day 5 in a hotel with a hospital affiliation and prepay for the PCR tests. Unless of course you go with the Phuket Sandbox program of 7 days.
Oh crap! Looked like I’ve been scammed without reading the “fine print”. WTF!

@yong

Blame the Thais for complicating matters to the Nth degree. Here's more from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, posted about 8 pm Thai time. But it seems like the earlier info still stands.
While existing rules under the scheme remain unchanged, the CCSA approved additional requirements to ensure stringent COVID-19 precautions.

All new TEST & GO applications must submit A proof of prepayment for 2 separate nights of accommodation at government-approved hotel/s, such as, SHA Extra Plus (SHA++), AQ, OQ, or AHQ on Day 1 and Day 5, and the expenses for 2 RT-PCR tests on Day 1 and Day 5. The prepayment for Day 1 must include an accommodation, a test and a prearranged transfer from the airport to the hotel.

Travellers can book 2 different hotels for the accommodation on Day 1 and Day 5. However, on both Day 1 and Day 5, they must stay within the room for the RT-PCR test result.

I wish I'd saved the first Friday night " Returning happiness to the people " broadcast by the " Burma light " military dictatorship that our self pproclaimed "Iwas here before you" long standing Thai expert thought was good for the country.

This latest update is just insane. Two separate hotel bookings, both including PCR tests, there won't be many takers.

What happens if you test positive on arrival or pre-departure in Thailand? See my post quoting a Times article, in another thread.

Yes it makes no sense that a foreigner who tests negative on day one and then intermingles with the Thai community and tests positive on day 6 is treated as someone who brought COVID into the country and quarantined
