It’s going to be at least two months until you’ll be able to legally drink a beer at a bar in Thailand… The long-awaited reopening of bars and nightlife venues has been pushed to January 15, 2022. The CCSA held a general meeting chaired by PM Prayut Chan-o-cha today and decided to push back the reopening date for entertainment venues. Alcohol sales at restaurants is now only allowed in areas classified as “blue zones” including Bangkok and Phuket.

...restaurants in the four provinces classified as “blue zones,” which includes Bangkok, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Phuket, have been allowed to serve alcohol.

All foreigners are having their documentation checked even though that condition of entry to the country has already been satisfied.
If foreigners have been vaccinated six months ago they will have to take a 100 baht swab test and wait.
An ambulance is on hand to take them away if they turn out to be positive.

But the good news is that so far 500 swab tests have been done on Thais and foreign visitors and not a single one has come back posiitive.

Thanet Supharothatrangsi, chairman of the Chonburi Tourism Business Association, echoed what people online have been saying for weeks if not months.

In an interview with business media he said there are virtually no tourists coming into Thailand despite the rhetoric of the government after their much vaunted reopening claims.

The only arrivals are not true tourists at all. Just business people, property owners or those with families.

For sure keeping bars, nightclubs closed is the wrong decision.
