Fair enough, I think it means number administerd, but those fully vaccinated is still only 5%John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 1:24 pmYou might want to check your math. India's population is 1.366 Billion, so 358 Million is about 26%.

Excuse my french, but we are all fucked....Sandbox will be stopping soon, mark my post....They can't continue to let people in while all hell is breaking loose throughout the country. Not only that, but how about the guy who flew to Phuket, then never went to hotel...instead he went to see his wife and kid.....WTF????? Absolutely great security there guys.....oh yeah, the second guy was senile, left the hotel and got lost and had gone to the local supermarket.
Failure, Failure, Failure....
A year ago I said we should just let Covid run rampant and get it over with, or we would be dealing with it for 2-4 years.... And while the death toll would be much higher due to strain on healthcare around the world, we might be able to get back to a sense of normalcy quicker....
In the meantime, chances of visiting SE Asia this year, without quarantine, are fading away.... Thailand open in October? I wouldn't bet on it.....

Re: Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info
IF, they stop the sandbox it will be a HUGE loss of face and the economy will fall worse than it already has
Coivd is on the island but the public is kept in the dark
I agree that its gone on enough, closures, curfews, lockdowns were needed Before.
Now its time to let it run its course, those that get it an die..... its better than countries facing severe economic depression which will take ears to recover from.

Thailand saw +9,436 new local infection cases in the past 24 hours.
+ 86 deaths.

.The two that tested positive are children aged 8 and 9. This was the 2nd test and so Days 6-7. They have been sent to hospital. There are two families with a total of 7 members. The people who tested negative have been sent to ALQ quarantine. The two children were allowed to enter even though they were not vaccinated because they were with family members. Health officials are now doing track and trace to see where they’ve been over the last seven days. They’ve asked people not to panic. #Thailand

PHUKET:
amazing that 38% chose to stay in Patong which is 75% closed with bars shuttered and even 7/11 closed
Statistics about SHA+ hotels on Phuket island. 168,862 room nights have been booked so far (up to 10 July). 38.26% of rooms were booked in the popular beach resort of Patong which is probably the one that was hit the hardest. Choeng Thale has 14.88% of bookings & Karon has 12.48%
even thou 85% of the population have had at least one jab and 67% have had two jabs
the Schools are closed on the island and many students locked up/quarantined in government facilities cause a teacher and student in ONE school tested positive.
Still no follow up report about the 2 foreign kids that tested positive on the 2nd test ( day 6-7) and how many of those that they came in contact with have been found / tested and or quarantined.

Mexico has had far more cases but allows entry without testing or vaccination and has this entire time.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 7:06 am IF, they stop the sandbox it will be a HUGE loss of face and the economy will fall worse than it already has

Why the fear mongering and hype from the Thai government (and for that matter, most other Asian governments)?
The sky isn't going to fall in. There is no apocalypse happening in Phuket that people are being kept in the dark about. Although some troll on the Bangkok post claims (without evidence) the government is about to suspend the sandbox, I agree with you that is unlikely. They've already made it difficult to travel there domestically (need a vaccine and a covid test or proof of recovery from covid plus install the tracing app) that is going to deter all but those who agree with these strict conditions. For all intents and purposes, Phuket is already a separate country.
Any tourist coming to Thailand to use the sandbox should consider just spending their time there as the rest of the country is pretty much closed.
