Dry cured bacon
Dry cured bacon
Is there anywhere in Phnom Penh where you can buy real bacon?. I am not talking about the wafer thin strips of anaemic fat that pretend to be bacon which ooze a white scum when cooked. I am looking for dry cured thick rashers of streaky or back bacon which leave the pan not looking as if they were cooked in a snow storm. I have tried Dan Meats in the past but was disappointed with the results although to be fair they were the best so far.
Just thought l would give my search another try.

Ahhh yes - well spotted.. I vaguely remember now, as i went for some meat and got waylaid by his Kampot Cider.
I bought a joint for cutting bacon slices now I remember, through the haze...
I went in the afternoon for a quick buy, but left around 10pm.
Thanks PSD-Kiwi - I do stand corrected..

I have a friend in Goa who cures his own bacon, he buys some good belly pork and does it at home. You can google or u tube to find out the various methods, it tastes lovely !
Re: Dry cured bacon
I frequently do that when l am back in the UK although my village butcher does sell very good bacon. I have considered that here but have yet to find a decent bit of belly which is thick enough and not 80% fattightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 4:45 pm I have a friend in Goa who cures his own bacon, he buys some good belly pork and does it at home.
