Safety tips for Girls (and Guys who carry Handbags)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

This post is for people who carry handbags.
This post is not about telling people NOT to carry handbags.

Any safety tips for men with man-buns? I witnessed robbers grabbing a man's man-bun with large vice-grip pliers, disabling him that way and robbing him. I shit you not! Painful to watch, but creative and clever.

Nope, they are on their own.

Some of you might remember the time a French woman was dragged off the back of her motodop and fell under a following van in an attempt to steal her bag or backpack. Both the motodop and van kept going, and she was killed. This was about 13 years ago, and I have never worn a backpack while riding on a motodop since. I put the backpack between me and the driver. If you want it, take it, but I'm not going with it. I've know other woman receiving injuries from being dragged off their motobikes for their handbags. Women should put their hand bags under the motorbike seat. There are too many methheads looking for a few dollars and have no regard for you.

^^ Good reminder that bag-snatching is an agression against a person, and that occasionally people have been badly injured or even killed. The snatchings off motorbikes or from tuktuks are the most dangerous, so take care out there.
