Re: Tuk-tuk for Sale by NGO
New, about $1000 max for a standard two wheel traditional Tuk Tuk.
-plus motorbike.
High riding, fresh air, great vision, soak in the vibes, comfortable and eazy.
Good drivers can be amongst the best friends and best assets you will ever have in this country.
OR, $2500 for a new three-wheel rat cage.
no power LPG fart gas, so cheaper to run.
-poxyest things ever invented for travelling. ever anywhere.
Drivers are app slaves and zombies.
Traffic congestion and race-to-the-bottom competition from the app rat cages mean the days of the traditional two-wheel Tuk Tuk are numbered.
So (really really) enjoy them while you can.
-or even better, buy one. i promise you will never regret it.

Regular ones also on the app. You can chose between the Indian boxes and the tuk-tuk.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 11:43 am New, about $1000 max for a standard two wheel traditional Tuk Tuk.

Won't somebody think of the cyclos?!

True enough, JA - these days.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 11:45 am Regular ones also on the app. You can chose between the Indian boxes and the tuk-tuk.
thanks, I should start making a clear distinction between the carts, and the 'systems'.
I still think it is relevant about dealing face to face with a free and independent driver tho'
- making the instant (or enduring) relationship,
- ensuring the destination and 'terms' of the trip are definitely understood by both,
- then playing the game of setting the price - all the while keeping respect and good humour all 'round.
- or, playing hard-ball if you have to, but still with dignity.
But i am very old-school on this, i know.
Most of my relationships in SEA started this way nearly 50 years ago and i still enjoy it.
A pox on all apps!! - as well as the three-wheel rat boxes.
i reckon anyway.
Spigz, yeah yeah yeah, the cyclo kings are the all time heroes.
i love them, 'sometimes drop a fiver, or something, on a sleeping one late at night.
Toughest old bastards on the planet, the inner circle. On another plane too.
Right 'out-there' above it all, but always 'in the zone' with the traffic and their trike.

If it has eight seats and a 150cc engine I'd assume it's neither of those, it's more likely one of those solid Chinese 3 wheelers.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 11:43 am New, about $1000 max for a standard two wheel traditional Tuk Tuk.

Re: Tuk-tuk for Sale by NGO
reverse gear is manual (-labour)
easy cheap
same as a horse
how fast do you need to go backwards?
but now that you mention it
tuk tuk drivers hate vehicles that have reverse drive
so many Kh drivers put it into the wrong gear when taking off at traffic lights and smash back into the tuk tuk behind
(never ever the tuk tuk drivers crashing into the back of them - of course)

The rat cage seats are hard as fuck - can't take the pot holes - real teeth rattling experience.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 1:16 pm reverse gear is manual (-labour)

Rainy season coming too.. the rat cages won't make the grade on anything greater than a puddle.
