Candy Bar - What happened?

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

Candy Bar - What happened?

Post by GreenMeat »

Went for a nightcap with a friend last night and saw that the Candy Bar on St. 136 was shut down. What gives?

I bought it and will transform it into a classy Sky Bar (Capitols On Purpose).

Good plan ^^ That whole precinct is undergoing gentrification and moving right up market.

I know that because i heard the Candy Bar has closed down.
That'll lift the tone ten percent across the whole district.

Will require a major detox...it always seemed to have a signature smell about it when you walked in. Dunno whether that was stale beer, sweat, rising damp or other bodily fluids causing that :plus1:

St 136 doesn't seem the same without signature Candy Bar closed. Walked past today...4-5 double mattresses stacked outside the front door...what gives?

There was a big sign out the front that looked like advertising for staff? Can't help think this is an inopportune time to open a hostess bar with the corona virus cutting the high season short and the low season looking like potentially a shocker this year.. :(

Good news..

Jacky's bar formally recommended before has gone down.

Agogo next door does not disappoint.

Candy bar has a history of thievery and trouble. no place for a "gent about town".
