China enacted a sweeping new law that bars people from posting negative content online, and it could be used to suppress coronavirus news
China has enacted a new law that effectively allows people to post only “positive” content about the country on the internet.
The law is designed to “create a positive online ecosystem” and “preserve national security and the public interest,” the government document said.
According to the new law:
“They only want us to see what they want us to see, and hear what they want us to hear,” another said. “This is basically the internet version of social policing.”

According to the new law:
- Illegal content includes the “dissemination of rumours,” “disrupting economic or social order,” “subverting the national regime,” and “destroying national unity.”
- Negative content includes “sensationalizing headlines” and any “other content with a negative impact to the online information ecosystem.”
- Encouraged content includes “spreading and explaining Party doctrine,” “spreading economic and social achievement” and “other positive and wholesome content.”

Police state, or just belt & braces on public safety in the face of a deadly virus? Try this in America ... :guns: :lotsofguns:
"To fight the coronavirus China is undertaking its biggest experiment yet in rule by data: an app that automates quarantines. Alibaba software, using unexplained data, now decides whether millions can leave their home. It also shares data with the police."
