How about a Vietnam sub-forum?
Re: How about a Vietnam sub-forum?
When you've lived in a country for a while you will know each and every bureaucratic pothole you will have to face. But to assume Vietnam doesn't have those.... Are you sure? Some of the above, plus some you didn't mention, even apply to 'lax' Cambodia.ExPenhMan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:41 pm1. No asinine 90-day reports. Can only get a 12 month visa if you're American these days AFAIK.
2. No physical visits to IM offices for TM30 filings every time you leave Thailand and return.
3. No paying the landlord's fine for not reporting the foreigner as a resident.
4. No arrival/departure cards, which mean absolutely nothing to your arrival notices and you still have to file TM30
5. No certificate of residence needed from immigration at exorbitant fee of 300 baht to buy motorcycle or renew licence.
6. No embassy multiple trips to get countless expensive notarizations of this, that and the other form required by immigration.
7. No authorization stamp by embassy affixed to old passport to show immigration my new passport is related to the old one.
8. No going to the police station to report loss of departure card.
9. No worries about different interpretation of rules by different immigration districts or even different immigration officers in the same f*ckin office.
OK, is that enough?
And yes, long-term VN visas have been getting hard to get. But I often travel so no biggie.
Re: How about a Vietnam sub-forum?
As noted above, I've lived in VN for about 3 years in total. For now, there are few potholes, the only one at the moment are restrictions on long-term visas. I've lived in Cambodia and a long visa is a breeze. Thailand is the Land of Potholes. Even Thailand booster PhuketRichard posted a month or two ago in another forum that he's leaving Thailand and moving to Cambodia.Kammekor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:24 amWhen you've lived in a country for a while you will know each and every bureaucratic pothole you will have to face. Re: How about a Vietnam sub-forum?
I think having a Vietnam forum would be a nice addition here. Definitely of interest to me.

even my Khmer gf knows things wont be as good in her country, as here.
Thai visa has a Cambodian, Vietnam and Burma sub sections and a
SE asia; Forum for Southeast Asia, other than Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam: Discuss news and issues
related to Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore.
Teak door has; Malaysia,Laos, Cambodia, Singapore,Indonesia, Philippines subsections
and ;
Dedicated travel forum for Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, India, Bangladesh and Burma
and
China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Macau
and even non aisan subsections
Add a new subsection, if it doesn't take off....nothing venture nothing gained ( or lost)
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

You could be next.
Re: How about a Vietnam sub-forum?
So, you agree that it's the weirdest place in VN? (original post was a question, actually)Cruisemonkey wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 2:18 amI like weird.sigmoid wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:22 pmThe weirdest place in Vietnam, perhaps all of Southeast Asia?Cruisemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 1:55 am I live in Vung Tau and would like to see a Vietnam sub-forum.
Or, have you been to any other places in VN that you would consider to be weirder?
