Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

New strain of Covid-19 may be cause of rise in cases, Hancock tells MPs

Health secretary says variant may be linked to rapid spread of virus in south-east England

This doesn't sound too good.

A new Covid-19 variant has been identified in the UK, the health secretary has revealed, suggesting it could be linked to the rapid spread of the virus in south-east England as millions more people in London are being moved into the toughest restrictions.

Cases of the strain have been found in almost 60 areas, Matt Hancock disclosed, although he stressed that clinical advice suggested it was “highly unlikely” the mutation would fail to respond to a vaccine.

It came as he confirmed that the capital, as well as the majority of Essex and parts of Hertfordshire, would be placed into tier 3 from Wednesday after an “exponential” rise in cases.

I don’t know, more contagious usually means less potent so hopefully that’s the case

Sweden records close to 10,000 new cases
18 December 2020
Sweden registered a record 9,654 new coronavirus cases on Friday, Reuters reports.

The increase compared with a previous high of 8,881 daily cases recorded on Thursday.

Sweden registered 100 new deaths, taking the total to 7,993. The deaths registered have typically occurred over several days and sometimes weeks, and are added into the Health Agency’s tally which is updated four times per week.

Sweden’s death rate per capita is several times higher than that of its Nordic neighbours but lower than several European countries that opted for lockdowns.

An interesting video on the subject, which voices many, if not all, of the concerns and thoughts that people have, if they take time to think about it instead of getting hysterical.

I took one look at the video length (32:49) and sighed, confident that I would last 2 minutes before switching off.

I watched the lot and have to say that guy made more sense than anyone so far on TV or the Radio. He also actually knows what he is talking about, being qualified.

This is one of the few Youtube videos worth watching.

Interesting BMJ article below:

Covid-19: politicisation, “corruption,” and suppression of science
BMJ 2020; 371 doi: https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj.m4425 (Published 13 November 2020) Cite this as: BMJ 2020;371:m4425

When good science is suppressed by the medical-political complex, people die

Politicians and governments are suppressing science. They do so in the public interest, they say, to accelerate availability of diagnostics and treatments. They do so to support innovation, to bring products to market at unprecedented speed. Both of these reasons are partly plausible; the greatest deceptions are founded in a grain of truth. But the underlying behaviour is troubling.

Science is being suppressed for political and financial gain. Covid-19 has unleashed state corruption on a grand scale, and it is harmful to public health.1 Politicians and industry are responsible for this opportunistic embezzlement. So too are scientists and health experts. The pandemic has revealed how the medical-political complex can be manipulated in an emergency—a time when it is even more important to safeguard science.

The UK’s pandemic response provides at least four examples of suppression of science or scientists. First, the membership, research, and deliberations of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) were initially secret until a press leak forced transparency.2 The leak revealed inappropriate involvement of government advisers in SAGE, while exposing under-representation from public health, clinical care, women, and ethnic minorities. Indeed, the government was also recently ordered to release a 2016 report on deficiencies in pandemic preparedness, Operation Cygnus, following a verdict from the Information Commissioner’s Office.

When someone posts a convincing video on the web its always worth doing a fact check. I realize that fact checks themselves may be open to question here are some perspectives regarding Mike Yeadon and his claims worth checking. Decide for yourself

I watched the whole video and at the end of the day, my summary interpretation of what he is saying is that covid19 is no worse than seasonal flu with some years worse than others.

I then went to look at the comments and whether any of his contemporaries had responded to the video. However, the comments were turned off on it. YouTube 'Learn more' suggests 'The video owner selected the setting to 'Disable comments'. He also didn't mention that he used to work for Pfizer 9 years ago.

So I googled responses and found these which appear to debunk his earlier assertions:
