Cheapest SE asian city for Backpackers

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

You can do that in Phuket, ( 7/11-sandwich) AND the soup will be $2.
....
nope

7-11 does give what you can get from local KOW restaurants for that money

(please don't brag that you eat the (ramen) soup from 7-11. It will lower your street credit.)
When I need advice about life, I just check in here.

I found Hanoi surprisingly cheap when I visited in October. Unfortunately though, the air was pretty much unbreathable at the time, and I say that as someone who spends most of the year in Bangkok.

Hanoi is cheap but there are cheaper. Hanoi also suffers bad air pollution and the new visa scenario kind of makes it useless for longer term stays.
Looks like Cambodia is more suitable in this situation.
