Getting Sick

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Recent studies have indicated that the single best preventative measure is to wash your hands frequently, and avoid shaking hands with people.

My prefered cold cures are Tiffy (cold tablets that you can find in all chemists or 7/11s) and lime juice with honey - with a splash of rum to make you feel better. :beer1:

Rest, good food and paracetamol.

If you are under the weather, don't make it worse by trying to fight it off with anything energetic - ignore it and fight through it type of attitude.

get well soon...

how to keep well?
Eat well, ( balanced diet with plenty of greens) exercise, get some sunlight everyday, stay away from sick people
visit the wat at least once/week

Interesting. For a while I have been reluctant about shaking hands, but it's pretty hard to avoid without appearing extremely rude. I used to say it was the one thing I agreed with Trump on. A year ago I attended a 40th birthday and as my friends Dad offered his hand I tried to avoid it, telling him I had a minor cold (which I did). The guy told me, in the most un-patronising way possible that it was very unlikely I would make him sick by shaking his hand.
And I took some notice, as he was the "Medical officer of health" in this area, there are six or 8 of them in the country (NZ).
I wasn't about to argue and say "but Donald Trump says..."
I always had the idea that some guy who has just wiped his face shakes my hand, then I touch my face a bit later. But according to this guy it doesn't really happen like that.

And avoid door handles, light switches, stair rails, elevator buttons, the self-serve menus at McDonalds, etc., basically anything that someone else has recently touched.

That's why you need to wash your hands frequently.
