Expats in Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

You seem to have a very low view of Cambodians. You charaterize them too stupid to be able to tell the difference between a drunken tourist and a businessman, so childlike (of perhaps wild and immoral) so as to be unable to control themselves like westerners who should know better, and so bigoted that the sight of a drunken white tourist will lead their simple minds to believe all whites are drunken tourists.

Nothing else rings true-r.

Khmer are such a model of sobriety and refinement, i am sure they are shocked by our orgiastic and disgraceful behavior.

Recent events regarding foreigners have emphasized what this topic is all about. But it's not all just Westerners acting out, there is still no justice for Mr. Beecher.

...for anyone. Not for khmers, not for barangs. Same, same - injustice for all. No reason to get upset.

I was trying to explain the principle of the justice system to a khmer friend. I got bogged down immediately.
Difficult to describe alien abstract concepts like equality in a culture of hierarchy.
The police are there to work on behalf of the population...yeah, right. :ROFL2:

So you get it!

Good news. Someone gets it. Let us hope it has an effect on others too.
