Richshaws along norodom
Does anyone know the actual reason for the Indian style tuktuks not being allowed along norodom between independence monument and wat Phnom?
Is it to cause more congestion on smaller roads and such as 51 and Riverside
Or just for shits n giggles

Re: Richshaws along norodom
To ensure that more big SUVs can clog up norodom is the reason.

It’s all tuktuks not only Indian ones.

A friend took one of these recently and the driver didn't know about this rule. They got pulled over by the cops and my friend had to pay a $5 fine. Go figure..
Re: Richshaws along norodom
Then he didn’t look at the traffic signs on Norodom clearly indicating that they’re banned.

It's been like that as long as I can remember.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

As does AJ2's pointcautious colin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:48 pm Point still stands though that it just increases congestion elsewhere, sisowath quay, 19, 51 & 63 all smaller roads.
Oh and here's a visual representation of how much Khmer nouveau riche care about the congestion on smaller streets:angkorjohn2 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:03 pm To ensure that more big SUVs can clog up norodom is the reason.
Re: Richshaws along norodom
You've been here longer than the ban on tuk-tuks on Norodom. Time to get that memory checked!
They should just ban the damn things nationwide, along with the remorques and anything that is a motorbike that takes up the space of a small car/van.
I either drive a stupidly large SUV and they're hopelessly slow and in the way, or I'm riding a motorbike and they block up the invisible "moto-lane" with their equally abject driving.
What to do with all the suddenly unemployed tuk-tuk drivers? Put them to work widening roads, building a not so royal national rail infrastructure or building an energy grid. #SpigzyForPM

Re: Richshaws along norodom
I know about this ban which was introduced about 10 years ago, but although the signs are still there I was not aware of this still being enforced.
I see Indian style tuktuks driving on Norodom all day.
BTW, if I remember correctly these ban signs only depict the traditional style tuktuk, not the Indian ones, or have they been adapted?
