Is it worth setting up or just flag a tuk tuk for cash?

9 days in PP we may only use one or two a day if that

i like the thought of it, cashless hassles etc but I imagine punching in an address isn't easy unless it finds place names?

You decide.

I would just flag them down. But if you do, many wont use their app, and charge you more. So negotiate a price before you get in.

You can also use whoever is nearby, not just Grab.

I use both PassApp (cheaper prices) and Grab (great promotions). Linking a payment card with Grab is the best solution in my opinion, even for a few days.

Yes, get Grab and PassApp, you will save a lot of money and hassle. It can find place names but I usually just put a pointer near the location on the map.

Passapp and grab, are faster in the traffic, being smaller and having a reverse gear.

Fares are definitely cheaper, a large margin - but after tips will work out about the same.

The journey is trackable and the driver accountable, so 'problems' which sporadically occur are reduced.

Very very popular. Hassle free.

Grab is the go, link it to your card so you don't have to hassle over payments / tips. Also, great if the driver doesn't speak any English and you don't speak Khmer. Just get in and get out. Easy as pie.

punching in an address is easy. as is using the option of locating where you are on a map. not all apps allow that option. I can't remember which ones do and which ones don't. Anyway. It's easy.

they are also perfectly sized to get demolished in an accident. I like the car versions on those apps, or a regular tuk tuk.

Grab's promotions are getting fewer and farther apart. Support PassApp instead and help promote competition.

And on both you can use the map to select your destination, it's often easier and better than typing in an address.

100% this, I used to be a solid passapp fan , a local set up I was happy to support but the ability to affix a card to grab meant no need for worrying about the correct change.

These apps provide hassle free transport, no need to haggle, no need to explain where you are going (for the most part) no ripping off ergo no need for big arguments where you end up in prison like Mr Downer who would have saved all his woes by using one as it would direct the driver to the destination and not cost $10 (and the rest). They are a god send. So much cheaper and more efficient as well. Gone are the days I'd have to barter with some drunk tuk tuk driver who only knew markets and temples and if you weren't going near any of those you were screwed. $5 to Russian market from street 214 became $1.60.

When I don't feel like driving in traffic in the car or the kids are with me I used ExNet when it came out in 2016....moved on to PassApp...then Grab....now I like TADA the best. 50% off rides twice a day. Drivers have always seemed better educated about the app in front of their face and how to follow a line on a map better than the others. So for me, for now, I say useTada app.
