Six kilograms of shabu with an estimated street value of P40.8 million stuffed in two handbags were seized from a Filipina passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Friday morning.

Concealed in a tea foil pack and stuffed in two handbags that were packed in a backpack, the six kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu were detected during x-ray inspection, the Bureau of Customs said (BoC).

It was found in the possession of a Filipina passenger who arrived at the airport’s Terminal 3 at around 4 a.m. Friday from Siem Reap, Cambodia.

NAIA Customs district Collector Carmelita Talusan, identified the suspect as Ruzol Marie Guillermo, 28, of Marikina City.

“The passenger’s backpack was subjected to x-ray scanning which yielded images of suspected dangerous drugs. The baggage was subjected to 100-percent physical examination, where Customs personnel found white crystalline substances inside two handbags which were inside the backpack further concealed in a tea foil pack,” the bureau said.

A field test was then conducted to confirm whether the substance is an illegal drug. It tested positive for shabu.

Further details: The suspect was found with the five packets of drugs, cunningly disguised as Chinese tea, "hidden" in her handbags inside her luggage.
This sounds suspiciously like a set-up by the drug traffickers, who must have known that the bag would be x-rayed on arrival in Manila, and even a hand search by customs officers would have found the drugs right away.
The suspect, Ruzol Marie Guillermo, 28, a resident of Marikina City, came from Siem Reap, Cambodia, via Cebu Pacific flight 5J-258. BOC Port of Manila collector Mimel Talusan said the suspect was arrested at 4 a.m. after the X-ray scan showed images of the suspected dangerous drugs inside two handbags placed in her backpack.

Another uneducated mule that has been convinced into doing it for love or money and told '' everyone does this , you wont have problems.''

Somewhere behind the story there is a Nigerian or Chinese man and I hope they catch him too, to help stop this happening again to someone else.
Spoiler:
Spoken by Duncan who's Cambodian ex girlfriend is on Death Row in Malaysia on similar charges.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Wow. Poor girl. (Talking about the spoiler.)
Do you want to tell us more ? Fine if you don't, but these stories of mules always make you wonder. In the OP's case, the woman clearly didn't have a clue - 6kgs of drugs in her luggage and obviously she thought she would get through, or she wouldn't have done it.
The big guys have a lot to answer for.

Lets just say that you would think a 72 year old guy that has been through the school of hard knocks many times would have no tears left, but every six months when I visit to give her some money,,, I am her only visitor for the last 8 year, and talk on a phone with a glass panel separating us..,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I get told a lot of stories by her about others in the same situation.

End of story

I knew this story, and perhaps Duncan isn't aware of it but I have met him many times. Those caught smuggling are sometimes duped and other times desperate for a few thousand, but they pay the price more than the kingpins ever do.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

End of story
Sorry to hear that Duncan, but if your post makes one person think again about carrying drugs for easy money, it will be a public service.
Stupid westerners do this too. The drug runners prey on the poor and the clueless, and also those who think they are very smart but are deluded. Of course some people get through, but you are literally risking your life. It's not "easy money".
