New camera trap footage shines light on Cambodia’s sun bears

One way we can learn more about the biodiversity of the Cardamom Mountains is to deploy camera traps. These cameras provide unique insights into the lives of the species living in this relatively unexplored landscape, providing crucial information that can help us understand how species are faring in light of growing threats, including widespread habitat loss and snaring for bushmeat.
Our latest camera trap surveys offer a privileged glimpse of the daily habits of the elusive sun bear. Now extinct across much of their former range, sun bears are officially categorised as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, but are clinging on in the Cardamom Mountains.

The original Honey Bear - nobody loves honey more than sun bears.
Cutest thing in the whole wide world up until about 4 months.
Soon after that they can rip off your face.
Often described as the most dangerous animal in SE Asia.
(not sure exactly how true that is)
Magnificent - powerful.
If you meet one - stand up tall, wide and as big as you can - face it straight on - and snarl and sneer and roar like a grizzly.
And please, don't take honey sandwiches when you go for a walk.
