Predictions for 2015
Re: Predictions for 2015
For Cambodia...
I predict flooding in September and drought in April.
I predict a continuing increased police presence and street crime in Phnom Penh.
I predict a new opposition party, maybe two.
I predict a rash of robberies in early April.
I predict gridlock.
I predict more than one person will die of an overdose on Street 172.
I predict rumors of a rift in the CPP.
I predict a crackdown on something, probably more than one thing.
I predict the ‘virgin trade’ will be the anti-trafficking theme of the year.
I predict store closings at Aeon by year’s end.
I predict a good business year.
I predict somebody will cite the current condition of Route 6 as evidence of the lack of development in Cambodia.
I predict a hesitant year for big investment.
I predict visa panic.
I predict two different articles on different pages in the same paper on the same day - one complaining of environmental damage caused by a new hydroelectric dam and the other complaining of power shortages and blackouts.
I predict mayhem on Route #4.
I predict another rash of robberies throughout October.
I predict a good year for the Palace and a troubled year for the Sangha
I predict another moto ban in Sihanoukville.
I predict a magic turtle will cure a woman of chronic headaches.
I predict an NGO will set up a program to retrain former manicurists driven into prostitution by economic need to become factory workers, and another program to retrain former factory workers driven into prostitution by economic need to become manicurists.
I predict a spate of 'being seen to follow the law.'
I predict an example or two will be made.
I predict somebody big will publicly support Somaly Mam.
I predict the children of the old guard moving into positions of power.
I predict a Burger King in Siem Reap.
I predict that no fewer than two dozen people will be hacked to death for accidentally stepping on somebody's toes while dancing.
I predict cyclos will become critically endangered.
I predict a new 'HE High School' in Kampong Cham, and elsewhere.
I predict a beer and fag tax.

Re: Predictions for 2015
Can I make a prediction about myself? ??? I feel like I am going to die soon due to traffic. I love speed and driving fast and I have close calls with freshy fucks every day. This is my own doing. Sure, some blame goes to those driving the wrong way, but I drive down the middle the of street. So my prediction is that by February, I am going to get into a newsworthy accident. Burn me at Wat SanSam Kosal. For reals.
On a lighter note- I do see Khmer really wanting a middle class and that is awesome. My wife just got a promotion that put her over $1,000 per month. I see this as a good thing, employers willing to pay for local talent.
I am also thankful that this rainy season was not nearly as bad as last year's and not many people died.
I am thankful that my mother's breast cancer is in full remission although she has to perform a double mastectomy. I am glad that my father quit smoking cigs after 40 years.
I wish I could have 5 minutes and a Canadian Whiskey with my grandfather.
I wish my Uncle and Grandfather wouldn't have committed suicide within 2 weeks of each other. He was my only uncle.
I hope that everyone stays warm/cool for Christmas. I hope everyone with scars on the inside gets the help the need.
Most of all, I wish all my friends back in Michigan get the fuck out and don't get trapped and lead fulfilling lives.

Nice post, but...some people actually enjoy their fulfilling lives just where they are without having to justify it to others, ya know?Sir_Quality_U_Feel wrote:Most of all, I wish all my friends back in Michigan get the fuck out and don't get trapped and lead fulfilling lives.

If you were able to read correctly, you would understand that I am not justifying my life, but simply wishing those I grew up with a better life.Soi Dog wrote:Nice post, but...some people actually enjoy their fulfilling lives just where they are without having to justify it to others, ya know?Sir_Quality_U_Feel wrote:Most of all, I wish all my friends back in Michigan get the fuck out and don't get trapped and lead fulfilling lives.

Re: Predictions for 2015
2015, will be my year for change. Clear the last few obstacles here and setting my sights on a little place in Siem Reap.
My predictions for 2015 are:
an A-List member of this or the other forum, will hit the headlines for being caught up to no good.
Stroppy Chops will become Chaplin to CEO.
a Government/NGO driven campaign will seek to close many 'Girly' bars on streets such as 104 and 136 etc...
the Dragon will secure a remote working contract and return to his nest. General M on the other hand, will convert to Islam and change his name to General Bin Lardy- The Prophet of Burger
plans will be made for a cable car over Tonle Sap.
Andy in Asia, will defect to CEO
a new road will open up Preah Vihear Temple, as the Cambodian seek to develop a tour circuit. This will annoy, further the Thai's but they will have enough internal unrest in 2015, to do anything but rattle swords.
Vlad will be recognised, across both forums for his contribution and forum rules will be put in place to identify and disrupt the activities of Valdophiles.
