Chinese iPhone Scam Reported at AEON MALL
For your information, this was reported on social media:
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A social media account name, SUN HENG SOK, has shared a story of a Chinese man who tried to scam him by selling him a fake iPhone X at AEON mall.
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A social media account name, SUN HENG SOK, has shared a story of a Chinese man who tried to scam him by selling him a fake iPhone X at AEON mall.
He posted that " Be careful to get scam by Chinese people". On October 12, I went to AEON mall. When I stopped my motorbike a Chinese man came to me and said he wanted to sell an iPhone X. He spoke unclear English to me. He said " phone phone sell sell" (He didn't know that I am an English Teacher. otherwise, he wouldn't talk to me using the wrong grammar) I didn't talk to him yet, but he said no money, casino ! No money, casino!. I knew what was going on and I knew he was acting. So then, I asked him " how much?" The Chinese man used the calculator and typed it in 350. He showed me that the phone model and it was 256 GB. I gave a thumb up and said good good. Then, I slapped his shoulder and I walked away. It meant that I know what you are doing bro!
After that, I took tried to take pictures of him but I couldn't get the picture of his face. Be aware that Chinese men continue to scam other people now. After the guy tried to scam me at the motorbike parking, he went on to the game shop at Major Cineplex Center.
The iphone he wanted to sell me was a fake and a copy. It was different from the original. Please do not buy anything from people you don't know. The police should arrest all these scammers.

Re: Chinese iPhone Scam Reported at AEON MALL
Happened to me twice already, once while sitting outside having a coffee and last week waiting for the movies. The “IPhone” is close to perfection, the Chinese owner is desperate to sell his new phone to “buy a plane ticket to go back home”. So willing to take any offer...
When you turn the IPhone off/on the sound is not right, and in doubt, the reboot sequence is not Apple at all.

The Phillipine con artists are still working Aeon Mall also. They try to engage you to go and then rob you in various scams. They are dangerous and violent.
Aeon mall security sucks. Very dissapointing for a Japanese mall to fail so badly at protecting clients. They need a bad ass security chief

Re: Chinese iPhone Scam Reported at AEON MALL
It would be easy as pie for an alert security person to ID scammers operating on their property regularly.
Why don't they??
Maybe it's that annoying little cambodian thing - if you just put up the facade of something, in this case security, then that is as good as the real deal.
So they plonk young boys dressed up like toy soldiers out in front. To go with the decorative pot plants.

I encourage anyone seeing such people to report them.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 8:32 am It would be easy as pie for an alert security person to ID scammers operating on their property regularly.

In a completely different situation, I spoke to the police about certain people. The police already knew them. But it just gave the police a bit more information.
## I thought I knew all the answers, but they changed all the questions. ##

Re: Chinese iPhone Scam Reported at AEON MALL
I was approached by a woman while waiting for my driver at the B-quick car wash exit. To be honest it took me a while to understand that she wanted to sell the phone. They need to work on their approach. Telling me “iPhone! iPhone!” repeatedly did not make me understand.

We could set up a short course for them - 10 tips to effective selling - $299 per participant - buffet included.
